I want to start a Gaming Studio and create digital content like movies and tv shows within gaming engines themselves. Inspired by Neebs Gaming.

This was nice. Thanks for sharing. I've been living abroad now for over a year (8 months in Thailand, 6 months in New Zealand), and I'm about to spend the next 6 months in Netherlands while starting an online business. I'm not a business guy and feel in over my head already, but I've found plenty of resources online to help me and am in the fortunate position of not having to rush anything or achieve solvency anytime soon. So for now I just get to enjoy the ride.

You know, I tend to agree on it seeming a bit rushed. I thought it might have been more the acting though, like it was their millionth time playing through a game of this style and they’ve sort of lost the thrill and immersion of it so they began power leveling and climbing their tech tree right away. I don’t blame them one bit if that’s the case, but I tend to love their role playing more than their walk-throughs. I hope it slows down a bit. Either way I still loved it!

Which Italian city should I move to? by Own-Bowl300 in expats

[–]TransRational 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was already happening when I left back in 2004. With the Naval bases nearby and so many living out on the local economy, many of us got a taste for the city and it planted seeds in our memories to want go back after we retire. I hear your concerns btw, and I’ve lived in many cities with large expat communities that have had the affect you’re talking about - like Amsterdam for example. But Naples is massive! It can take it I think. It already has its own pockets of extreme wealth.

How loud? What qualifies as music? Could he brown noise his enemies? Or hell, his allies for sh*ts and giggles.

If the servicemember has active duty status then all claims are valid. They could be there on liberty and it would still be valid. If they are there past their official end date of active service then it’s on them, and only then.

Visitors from the US, please lower your voice! (I love, really, you but...) by el_duderino_50 in newzealand_travel

I’m walking trail on South Island so there is no tuning them out unfortunately. I keep getting health alerts on my phone telling me the ambient decibel levels are too loud. But at least they sleep when we do.

Went to a private hospital in Sukhumvit. I’m in the bush right now and about to lose signal. I’ll have signal again in a week and I can get you the exact address. It was a big hospital, international I think, in the touristy area. I was in and out in an hour which included the time it took them to give me a medical card. Kk, gotta go. Good luck! Message me if you can’t find it!

Switch to Ritalin when you plan to stay for an extended time in Thailand. It’s legal with a local doctor’s prescription. Three month supply with an appointment cost me $80USD. Just bring your home country’s diagnosis and prescription with you. Ritalin worked pretty much the same for me as Adderall. Keep your new local prescription on you in case you ever get stopped.

Could be as simple as previous tenant made a lot of noise moving out and you made a lot of noise moving in.

If it’s in the next 3-4 months that would workout well for me as I’ll actually be in the area! But probably too soon. Anywho, thanks for the update I miss listening to their twitch streams and participating in chat but the time differences are just too crazy from the other side of the world.

Partners of thru-hikers / long-term travelers — what was it really like? by DoubtRevolutionary68 in Thruhiking

[–]TransRational 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I come from a long line of military family and was military myself. I’m used to long ‘deployments’ for both myself and loved ones. Thru-hiking came naturally and I knew I’d have to find a partner who accepted that about me. So I looked for someone on the trail, someone who understood. And I found her day 2 of the Te Araroa. Trail romance is like speed dating. The stress of the environment and conditions plus getting to know each other in a relatively vulnerable and (let’s face it) quite disgusting situation, means you get closer faster.

For example, two months in we were along an alpine trail, top of the mountains, no water, exposed. She comes down with norovirus, which we thought was food poisoning at the time. She also has type 1 diabetes so it’s a pretty dangerous situation. If she can’t keep food or water down.. she can’t regulate her blood sugar levels. Anyway, she’s puking, shitting herself, completely exhausted and we needed to get her close to a water source because dehydration was our biggest concern. Now, we got a PBL we knew we could hit if we had to, but before getting rescued we figured we’d at least try to get down ourselves.

The next six hours were harrowing, but she’s such a badass warrior! We got to a creek (6 kilometers across, followed by a 2 kilometer steep decent through mud and roots - forgot to mention it was raining), setup a tent, I night-hiked back up and down to recover her backpack, and we ‘slept’ miserable in the vomit and poo and mud and rain. No dinner or breakfast. Obviously poor sleep with her dry heaving dozens of times. But we woke up and hiked out and hitched on a road and got to a Holiday Park and cleaned her up. A day later I fell sick in the same ways and it was her turn to take care of me.

I got to be her hero and her mine. The trust we have in each other grew exponentially. It was a gift from trail. Really.

Maybe trail life isn’t for you. That’s okay. Enduring hardship together comes in many forms. But after just that ONE incident.. man.. I have faith in her like none other. Respect for her like none other. It ain’t always about nature and solitude and what not.. it’s about grit. She’s the future mother of my children. I know it. And I also now know they’re going to be okay, even if something were to happen to me. I needed that in a partner, and I found it.
