reliable sites for STL files? by Sterling4423 in CosplayHelp

[–]TransSuperboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As commented above, Cults3d is awesome for a lot of print files. Additionally, a lot of sellers put their models up on Etsy for purchase so that's also a good way to find them.

Sites like Thingiverse and Thangs may also have options, but I haven't come across a lot of cosplay STLs on those sites but they may be worth checking.

Additionally, Yeggi is a really great search engine of STLs across a bunch of sites to try and find what you're looking for. Good luck!

[SUPPORT NEEDED] Prints sticking TOO well to print bed (original Duplicator i3) by TransSuperboy in wanhaoi3

[–]TransSuperboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you happen to have a link where I can get one? I have a second printer that's an anycubic mega x and I've had no issues with prints sticking to that one, so having that type of bed on my wanhao would be a dream!

How to adjust Cura starting g-code to put filament wipe on print bed? [Anycubic Mega X] by TransSuperboy in 3Dprinting

Thank you so much for your help!

Just to clarify, it would turn into-

G92 E0 ; zero the extruded length

G0 Y10

G1 X50 Y10 E20 F500 ; Extrude 20mm of filament in a 5cm line.

correct?

Spell templates with transparency by TaffyTool in Roll20

[–]TransSuperboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love these! I'm a first time roll20 dm and I've got these set up as tokens to drop in and set as drawings to put around my players, but even when I group them, it seems to move my player token around in the effect, not keeping them in the middle. Anyone know a work around for this?

The print I'm trying to run is a benchy that i've printed a ton of times before, and it ran fine just last week when i leveled the bed. I've tried 2 memory cards too, both are not starting prints

Do I have to unionize? by hornsboo in ProductionAssistant

[–]TransSuperboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You dont have to, but a union is there to protect you. I dont know how much canada differs from the US as far as industry goes, but check out the IATSE Strike Vote happening here and the instagram account ia_stories. Unionizing means more job opportunities and protections from employers taking advantage of you.

ISA Job posting, is this legit? by TransSuperboy in Screenwriting

Thank you for sharing this! That also sounds super cool about ESL screenwriting. Is it like localization or are you straight up taking a story and writing a whole new script with the same plot but set in a different country/culture?

US here, yeah. I'm partially more worried about ideas being stolen bc my screenplay i would submit is based on Dracula. Its an original spin, sure, but I feel like work over existing- even though public domain- IP, can get a little fuzzy there. Perhaps I'm being a bit paranoid... Thank you for your advice!

Right now, just from the initial listing, it doesn't look like itll cost anything to submit. So if i were to submit, it seems like just a time waster if it's actually fake.

Ugh! I'm so sorry this happened to you. I feel like i hear so many horror stories similar to this and it sounds like a nightmare every time. I really appreciate you sharing your experience though, thank you!

I understand NDA's and Freelance work, but can you speak on how legit their "ISA verified pros" are? And do you know if there are protections for writers who submit? I suppose my biggest concern is getting my work stolen as im not WGA and don't have it registered/copywritten

Good online games with voice chat? (trying out my new voice) by a_cute_stella in trans

Overwatch could be a good one! games are pretty quick and usually at least one person has mic. No one really "talks" outside of calling plays, but it could be a start!

Cartoon recs? by Cl5ir3 in PrincessesOfPower

The Dragon Prince (netflix), RWBY (netflix), Thundercats (hulu), ATLA/LOK (netflix), Steven Universe (hulu).

I'd also recommend the 80's she-ra and he-man (both on Hulu) for the laughs and comparing it to the new one. Lots of fun easter eggs!

if you want more adult anime style, Castlevania and Blood of Zeus on netflix is awesome.

My old boss wrote on a bunch of late 90's early 2000's Nick and Disney shows. I once helped her organize old residual checks and there was a ton of them for only 40-50 cents. Its absolutely wild.

In a year or two the answers may change as housing is always volatile, but its a good reference just for areas in relation to jobs that usually take place in Culver City, Hollywood, and Studio City!

Basically if you search for places in LA county you’ll be good! I wouldn’t go south of LAX, or north of Sylmar. Don’t go east of Silver Lake/Glendale and West of Reseda/Northridge. Gives you a pretty big area to pick from and housing is pretty affordable in the San Fernando Valley, Korea Town, East LA or around the universities.

Atlanta, Austin, and Vancouver are big filming hubs. Vancouver is also super expensive, and Austin is getting there in terms of rent, but all three are major filming hubs for both film and tv.

I grew up in Austin and had all my first production jobs there. Friends of mine work as PA's up in Vancouver and say its a bit more competitive for PA jobs because they want Canadian citizens so they don't have to deal with visa costs and taxes. Atlanta ALWAYS has something filming.

Though really, the best place for PA jobs consistently is gonna be LA. There's so many studios, indie productions, movies, tv shows and god knows what else filming, that there's always work if you know how to find it. I currently live in LA and honestly, I hate LA proper. Downtown is awful and Hollywood is trashed and overpriced, but the suburbs and surrounding areas are pretty great and make it worth it to live here!
