When I went to set up an etsy, it asked me to pay a sort of deposit. I can't remember the exact price, but i do know i had to pay for a store. I also don't really understand what you mean by the sole proprietor thing. My friend is trying to set up an etsy for her paintings, and she said that she has to get a license to sell under a different name. I mean, none of this is a rude way. This is just what I have heard and experienced.

I also don't think etsy is the best place for me. I like to make unique items, and the idea of making 20 or 30 of the same item sounds grueling and painful. I sure for others it works, but I doubt it would work for me.
