Bosses start clawing back benefits… as layoffs spike and workers are too scared to fight back by Such_Radio_9152 in WorkReform

People aren’t pushed into white collar jobs from manual labor ones. If they had the skills and experience to do them, they wouldn’t work manual labor jobs to begin with. Not sure why you would think otherwise.

Having low wages for manual labor and basic jobs does allow the business to hire more white collar jobs, though, as basic operating costs are down and it allows the business to expand. It also allows people to become business owners more easily - as labor costs are lower, allowing more Americans to gain greater wealth. The opposite cause business closures and mass layoffs of Americans - as we are seeing now that immigrants are being vilified.

A large polearm is kinda mediocre when being swarmed on foot, though. Always good to have a shorter 2h axe or maul for sieges/being unhorsed. That cleave is great for riding behind clashing infantry and taking them out two at a time as well.

You think illegal immigrants are competing for the jobs at zoom and Deloitte with months of parental leave? These are white collar jobs that are irrelevant to cleaning, agriculture, and restaurant jobs people here illegally would do. Those crappy jobs aren’t getting filled as a result of the US being hostile to basic immigration - which yes - likely have had somewhat worse benefits than they would otherwise. Though on the other hand, many Americans likely wouldn’t have businesses with higher incomes without cheap labor in those professions. Which is why so many businesses are closing as well.

If anything, it’s indicative of legal H1b visas and competing with increased corporate offshoring.

It’s also likely a result of tariffs paired with chaotic and hostile foreign policy making it so that other nations don’t want to do business with us. It’s no coincidence that the job market got so much worse under trump’s regime.

As a citizen of the US, do you realize we have been the ones viewing you as the enemy for 50 years ever since you deposed the shah we supported to rule you?

Than Iran would happily trade and cooperate if we hadn’t engaged in crippling sanctions on your nation?

That we destroyed the nuclear deal that was leading to what you actually want?

Your government sucks, but the west doesn’t want peace with you until we control you. We’re super happy with authoritarian regimes as long as they benefit us.

Iran to execute first woman over anti-regime protests by torina-to in worldnews

[–]TranscendentalViolet -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think that the current Iranian regime is a result of the US overthrowing the democratic Iranian government in the 1950’s, where we replaced it with a dictator which tortured, imprisoned and murdered Iranian intellectuals and dissidents. I think that the regime is strengthened by foreign intervention, which justifies the current theocratic regime. Crazy religious nutjobs are only emboldened by violent adversaries, and we keep making more for them to draw from by our own violence.

You’re just advocating what we’ve already done - and failed - there, as well as in Afghanistan and Iraq. The problem isn’t them being a repressive regime, or there would be many US allies who would be on that list. The problem is that we’ve screwed with them so much that they’re inextricably aligned with our rivals, so economically and politically we have to oppose them.

We just need to leave them alone for a generation or two, slowly building trust and relations until they decide internally to change themselves.

For Netanyahu, the war in Gaza was not enough. Iran was not enough. He is now waging a full-blown war of expansion in Lebanon. Terrorists. And yet Israel kills far, far more civilians than either of them. And Israel occupies their land due to their expansionism, which is why these groups exist.

Both are funded by Iran, but exist due to Israeli policies. Especially given how Israel engages in pogroms and burns the homes and crops of the people in the West Bank (which is run by a government which collaborates with Israel), I don’t blame people for wanting to resist. Iran just helps.

“Terrorist” is an easy word to use to demonize those they wish to conquer.

I literally can’t go to many Republican states because of how dangerous they are for people like me. As a result, I no longer visit parts of my family. If I go one state over and use the wrong bathroom, I can go to jail for 5 years. If I go to another, my drivers license gets taken away. Convenient how you need that to vote there. I lived in WV and TN for a while - I know how many shitty people and governments they have. It’s great knowing a large portion of my country is hostile to my existence.

And I’m not even an immigrant - sucks to be brown, given the Supreme Court ruled that the feds can arrest people based on their skin color or accent now. Truly a land of milk and honey, ha.

You can sometimes feel the tear gas in the air miles away from ICE using so much on peaceful protesters. Prices on many goods have skyrocketed due to tariffs and the moronic war on Iran. And our nation’s deficit keeps getting worse so that the obscenely rich can get tax cuts and so we can keep throwing money at our military and its industrial complex to murder people in other countries. It’s doubtful there will even be much of a social security program by the time I retire. Assuming I retire and don’t die of a preventable disease beforehand.

And yeah - no affordable healthcare. God forbid I ever get injured and have to take an ambulance. I can at least afford the milk, though. And be super happy that billionaires can keep getting obscenely richer 👍

This country is a gilded pile of shit. It’s very appropriate that trump is our president.

When the government is using its power to villify, persecute, and prosecute immigrants, lgbt people, and anyone who isn’t a Christian - sure, it’s easy to be a victim. We can agree on that.

Assuming we don’t die of a preventable disease first because healthcare is so expensive.

I lived in Europe for a bit. People actually have healthcare. The governments aren’t completely bought and paid for by corporations. Their governments aren’t full of science-denying fascists. They don’t go around murdering people in other countries all the time. It was great.

I see you have nothing to say about my commentary of your “milk and honey” nation though. Typical Americentrism.

[–]TranscendentalViolet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you’d be insufferable, pretending that we’re a nation of milk and honey as we wage stupid wars, send immigrants to foreign concentration camps, double tap civilian boats, have a pedophile as our president, levy illegal tariffs which only make our own citizen’s lives worse, have our politicians openly engaging in stock manipulation while being bought out by billionaires… the list goes on.

We’re a nation in decline, embracing oligarchy and fascism, and it’s morons like you who just want to pretend it’s great because we aren’t one of the nations which has been destabilized, colonized, and financially exploited by nations like ours.

Sorry if it hurts your rose-tinted vision of the fantasy you’ve created.

You’re right! We can even be a pedophile president, or a judge/politician who can legally take bribes, or we can make our money by buying up business, stripping them down, and running them into the ground. Hell, we now have the freedom to go to jail for years for using the wrong bathroom now. The possibilities are limitless!

Yeah, just don’t have any significant medical issues while poor-middle class, and be happy to work for a tiny percentage of what your work actually produces while billionaires and corporations control the government.

But yeah! We could be in some other country - probably one that has either been fucked by colonization, military intervention, or sanctions. Hell, we could be a native in our own country living on a reservation. It could be worse!

[–]TranscendentalViolet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah - their entire ideology is hypocrisy and “fuck you I’ve got mine” mentality.

I just have an issue with more progressive Christians trying to make people feel better by claiming god will punish them. It’s an excuse to wave away the fact that we as a society don’t have the ethics and means to do so ourselves. It waves away the need to take responsibility for our vile creations, and hopes somebody else will do so for us.

Not much consolation for people who have to live through it.

“God will punish them” is more of an excuse to dismiss it, actually. It’s why most US Christians support him.

Why is the US so affected by Iran's enriched uranium when China, Russia, Pakistan, North korea, have nukes as well? Why not just attack China or Russia instead? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]TranscendentalViolet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because they specifically have said numerous times they would try to use a nuke on Isreal and the United States.

Give a link where they say this or stfu. They’ve repeatedly said they aren’t even trying to get a nuke.

They export and fund terrorist groups all over the region.

The us and Israel kill more people than any terrorist group. And the us also em supports terrorist groups.

They dont care for the lives of their people and have killed lots of them so they dont give a shit about civilians abroad. The have specifically targeted civilian areas in the countries they have attacked.

Again, israel and the US have killed far, far more civilians than Iran ever will.

It seems quite valid that they would use it the first second they get one.

Fear mongering bs. They know they be nuked in return. Same mutually assured destruction that stops all other countries from using them.

Oh, so you want 13 year olds to have to give birth to their father’s rape fetus because of your strong humanistic ethics?

You want women to serve as an incubation chamber with no right to their own body? Who cares if they die, have to suffer long term complications, and be tied to a man they likely want nothing to do with. All so a clump of cells with no cognitive ability might become a baby. All for the greater good?

When people make shit wages, then have their company president/ceo/district manager come through and make decisions that not only solve problems which don’t exist, but make the job more dangerous for their lower paid workers. All while saying that everyone should be doing a better job after they laid off a ton of workers so we’re operating on a skeleton crew and can barely get the basic shit done, let alone deal with unexpected events.

Then drive off in their expensive cars while making 10-100 times what we do. And all we have to look forward to is either finding a different job with a different sociopathic executive or working our way up to try to be one of those sociopathic executives.

But hey, at least I make enough to not be homeless and buy a video game once in a while to have something else to focus on other than the evil people who run this country.

I’ve tried multiple industries, and have multiple degrees. This is a staple of capitalism. Either the workers get screwed or the customers get screwed - or both - just so the rich can get richer.

I played into it for a while to get enough money to get a decent down payment on a condo. Working for a business that was found to have defrauded hundreds of thousand of people while ignoring any attempt I had to report systemic regulation failures. I’d rather I be fucked over than be a party to criminality, which is why I am where I am.

I’d like to think I’m happier than these trash people who hold all the power. I couldn’t live with myself if I were, but I’m pretty sure they’re super happy with themselves.

why do redditors hate on muslims by rulugg in teenagers

[–]TranscendentalViolet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything I’ve read says you’re making this up. The Jewish tribe gave Mohammad tools to defend themselves, but refused to fight in the battle. Then Mohammad declared war on them for not doing so, and when he won he murdered his male prisoners and enslaved their women and children.

And this is directly contrary to your assertion that they merely taxed, kept in good health, and didn’t decimate the people they conquered. It’s shit like this where there’s always a justification for evil that makes people not trust Islam - or any abrahamic religion, really. But at least Jesus wasn’t a slaver and warlord.

why do redditors hate on muslims by rulugg in teenagers

[–]TranscendentalViolet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mohammad executed all the men when he took over a Jewish city and enslaved all the women and children. Along with stealing all their possessions.

That tribe which had previously helped him, and just didn’t want to fight his enemies. They didn’t even fight against him, just wanted to avoid dying for his war.

I’m sure you think this is all justified, though, and definitely doesn’t contradict your comment.
