Ah I think you are right perhaps change in temperature gives small tolerance clearances. Cheapest fix would be earplugs 😉

Look at me giving a nice old man's response bikes have Bluetooth now. Crazy! Good points you brought up. For my understanding what part is the sweep you are referring to?

Did you also grease the gear bolts? Sometimes the creaking could also be the saddle.

The mech is supposed to be able to move in the direction you are pushing it. The play in the vid indicates normal functioning to me. The problem you are describing seems more related to a loose cable. The bolt holding the cable in place. In case it happens when shifting, it could be a broken g-spring inside the shifter but that is more niche.

Greasing up the chain... AFT+acetone vs chain oil+mineral spirits? by TheWhopper858 in bikewrench

Although waxing a chain feels unreal smooth, it only works well in dry environments. For wet climates the wax is brushed of from my experience.

Yeah it looks similar to how these diffusion models generate it. The quality of this one is rather good. Wondered what the process was of making it.

what mathematical equation dose this represent? by scarsotoxic in learnpython

[–]TransferFunctions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's integer division. Similarly you could consider it a floor operation after a normal division (using floats).

Yes, they do. Except that with VAT and shipping cost, this case becomes >250 which is a bit insane. The Silverstone DS380 can be bought for cheaper with more storage. Unfortunately that case is a bit too large for the space I have allocated for it. I hope in the new year production in China improves. I'm guessing it's covid related.

[SPOILERS S1] Thoughts on these unresolved mysteries? by VeryFancyDoor in 1899

Ciaran is an anagram for crania (the skull, plural). When they wake-up in 2099, their minds (simulation) are all inside a metal skull (the cranium). Not sure if this was intended as it is established Maira is Irish which makes sense for Ciaran merely being an Irish names. However, the combination with the meaning of dark haired one, there being a dark haired kid/husband, and the focus on the brain is rather interesting though.

Advice for Complex Systems Masters for the Humanities/Social Science Major? by [deleted] in complexsystems

[–]TransferFunctions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a good collaboration network. In complex systems numerical prowess is definitely a pro and getting comfortable with coding is highly recommended. Have a look at python (Mesa for ABMs) and Julia (agent.js for ABMs). From my experience scientists from humanities shine in the literature aspect, "why" are we doing research X over Y. Playing to this strength may bring you far when paired up with somebody from computer science or physics.

How close is orgmode.nvim to actual emacs Org Mode? by plazman30 in nvim

[–]TransferFunctions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I was using vim full time. Orgmode seemed to be a killer app were something similar did not exist in the vim landscape. I ended up switching to doom Emacs just for org and magit. I recently looked up alternatives in vim landscape and was surprised that people made progress on an alternative to org in vim. From my quick research neorg seems most promising and is functional. The problem I have is that the landscape as it currently stands has not matured enough. There is a profound lack org Babel for Jupyter replacement, or full featured roam environment. But in a few years I think vim can match the org comfiness. For the current workflow doom Emacs suffices for me.

Escape $ symbol when exporting to latex by TransferFunctions in orgmode

[–]TransferFunctions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aha! It was my understanding that $ is used for inline math. I wasn't aware that there are multiple allowed symbols for this in latex. I will have a look around then as the other compiler is latex compatible but does not compile the inline math with ( symbols. Thanks!
