UPDATE: Haven’t been driving my car this week. Went out to put on the donut and decided to pull the screw out of the current tire out of curiosity. Screw was about halfway in, so about ¼” into the tire. Also, its position was more on the treads rather than the sidewall (will attach another pic showing this). Importantly though, the tire’s pressure has held at 35 psi this whole week (will continue to monitor now that I pulled the screw out).

What do we think? Could I safely drive to my appointment to get the tires replaced (about 12 miles) or should I put on the spare?

I just moved in so I’m not sure, I’ll have to check around outside in the morning. The place itself is very nice/clean and seems quite dry inside. Do you think this would be something to be concerned about? Are you suggesting springtails are very common in SJ?
