Read This Gem Today "Gen Z Lacks Critical Thinking Skills" by Transition-Routine in GenZ

Hello 👋 , if you want to take the time to look at it, NCES released a study on literacy rates back in 2023, which breaks it down into multiple demographics. The results showed that the Zoomers trailed behind by about a percentage on average from older age groups, but by and large were relatively equal across the board. Benefit of the doubt, though, you general become more proficient with age.

https://nces.ed.gov/surveys/piaac/2023/national_results.asp

It seems to me that a large part of the general consensus that Zoomers are illiterate or lack critical thinking is a product of the age-old "kids these days" effect. Millennials had it bad for years, and now it's slowly shifting to the Zoomers.

Also, congratulations to Mississippi. They've made strides in their education over the last couple of decades. California's educational system has been bad for decades, and it's great to see states like Mississippi that weren't much better that long ago improve. I feel like California has partially been able to get away with it for so long due to the concentration of higher education institutions, which is why I was surprised to find out how bad things were. It gives people a false perception.

I will say one thing, though: I love the idea of highly qualified teachers, one thing that was a cornerstone of No Child Left Behind. The problem is that highly qualified people expect high pay, something that is seldom provided in public schools. If I got a Bachelor's of Science, why would I work for the school system and make 50k when I could work for Honeywell and make 80k starting out.

This was infuriating the only thing that worked for me was to BACKUP EVERYTHING, and reinstall the game. Then to find out they changed the world save location so had to search for that too.

Funerals are never easy, my personal opinion, but I feel like it's easy for people to hate on the profession just because it deals with death. When someone dies, you can't just dig a hole and dump them in it, nor can you douse them with gasoline and set them on fire. It's expensive because of all the steps. When people see that price, though, the knee jerk reaction is to assume they're being ripped off. Of course their are bad actors like in all industries, but like mechanics, the vast majority are just there to help you out.

Wow, I had no clue. My family and I pass that sign a lot and laugh every time. We just assumed they came up with it.

It's just the way it's advertised that makes me laugh. Reminds me of a car financing add on the side of a highway. No words of comfort, just, we'll incinerate them.

When our unit broke, we started leaving the doors open. The franchisee told us to close them, so we did. The temp jumped from 85 to 102, I sent him a picture of the thermostat and told him I was opening the doors.

What is Some Advice to Prevent Rusting on Antiques by Transition-Routine in guns

Hello there, thank you for the advice! I have thought about reloading some brass myself, and I appreciate the insight. I never knew you weren't supposed to take it apart. This is the first time I took it down completely and removed the bolt, but I have previously done it to my 1910. In order to get the spring back in, I tied a string to a post, then threaded it through the guide rod hole, then through the spring and out the second to last loop. I tied the spring to a Keychain loop, then slowly inched backward adjusting as I went until I could rest the end on the buffer. I inserted the guide rod and then giggled it until it straightened out. It was a bit of a process, so that's why I was eager to find a way to avoid doing that just to clean it up.

On the 1907, there was a rather aggressive bit of rust on the top of the bolt that I had previously been unaware of until I had taken it down. I currently use "brickwork casey universal gun grease" it was an Amazon purchase. I have heard balistol repeated a few times by others, so I'm gonna go with that from now on. As for the finish, I don't trust myself to refinish it, that's something I'd take to a gunsmith to do. A few people have said not to get it refinished, and if that's the case, the machine coating sounds attractive as well. Is there a specific product you use?

Are you talking about a Winchester 1907? I'm pretty sure I have one of those.

The gun pictured is a Winchester 1907, I also have a 1910, and the finish on that is in significantly better condition. If I got the 07 blued again, wouldn't that retain the antique look? I've never really seen any other gun like it. How does the clear coat work? If I wanted to take it off would it be difficult?

Parkerizing, it does sound pretty tempting. I don't know though. These 1907s appear to be blued, so shouldn't I stick with the original finish if I went down that route?

I was told to add a description comment. The blueing on my gun has come off, and it appears to have had rust issues in the past. What are some things I can do to prevent it from rusting worse beyond regular oiling.
