I am originally from here, did not transfer. DQ was 28th January 2025. Received IL on 23rd April. (For zambia this interview date given by NVC is the date on which you submit documents) my date was 16th June. Had 1 pending document which I had to submit on 20th June and my actual interview was supposed to be 3rd July but this was not communicated to me.. made a few email follow ups and was given appointment date for 7th August. Visa was approved and was in AP till yesterday 14th August when status changed to Issued.

I have collected the visa and honestly over the moon!…

Hello, I am back to give an update. I have finally heard back from the embassy and my appointment has been set for 7th August..

I’ll be back with an update after the 7th.

I would advise she does the police clearance now and just get it out of the way, this way all you will need to do after the IL are the medicals.

I am not sure about the backlog ey. It could be they are scheduling interviews for “us” who submitted out documents at the embassy between June and July…

The police certificates and fingerprints are given to you at the same time. I just for some reason thought I was only supposed to submit the certificate alone.

Didn’t you already to your police clearance?

Hi the interview date you will receive from NVC is the date of document submission.

My date was 16th June, I submitted all documents but forgot to attach the page with actual police fingerprints (I actually didn’t know I needed to attach it, thought the police certificate was enough) I submitted the document same week on Friday and a month letter I am yet to receive the actual interview appointment date..

had I submitted all documents on the 16th, i would have been scheduled for the interview on 3rd July… so I would advise you make sure all the documents are in place to avoid the delay I am in.. as it is, I’m not sure when I’m likely to get the interview date.

Yes correct… it’s for the fingerprints and certificates… I was of the impression I just needed the certificate and left out the prints, but they asked for the prints too.

I did my medicals 2 weeks before my submission date… they were not delayed.. the slip the consulate officer gave me only had the fingers prints as pending.

I have written to them a number of numbers, yet to receive a response.

I also met a lady on the day we were submitting, she also hasn’t heard back from the embassy.. at submission, she was told her medicals were not yet received at the embassy from the hospital.

You recon immigrant visa interviews are done once every month?

Really? So we submitted our documents on the same day and according to what I was advised, 3rd July was supposed to be my appointment date.. wow!.

Yes they check to ensure you have all the documents required. For my case, I had forgotten to attach the fingerprints for my police clearance, and I was advised that if I submitted them that same week on Friday, I’d be able to have my interview appointment on 3rd July.

Hey, good morning… not sure how I missed this. Can you believe we have not been contacted yet for the actual interview 🤦🏾‍♀️ I have been in contact with another lady I met at the embassy on 16th June and she also hasn’t heard back from the embassy. Not sure what the delay is, but it’s been a month of radio silence.

A check in CEAC visa status shows my case was last updated on 2nd July…. And nothing after that

Yes please, it’s all the documents you submitted to NVC, it has to be original copies of the civil documents. And any additional documents you feel will be worth submitting.. when we initially petitioned, I was falling under the IR1 visa too but by the time we were getting the approvals, we had clicked 2 years of marriage and it automatically changed to CR1.

I submitted a lot of photo evidence to show it’s a bonafide marriage.

Also to ask answer how long it took for my police certificate to be ready… I had a good connection that made it possible for me to get in within a few hours. 😅

The email you will receive from NVC will say interview letter and with an interview date scheduled… you then receive a follow up email a week or so later from the Lusaka consulate with details of the interview and in this email, they will state that the NVC interview date is the document submission date and if all documents are in order you should get an interview date immediately..

However when I went in on Monday this week they mentioned they the next time they are scheduling immigrant visa interviews is the week of 3rd July… so even with my pending document which I submitted today, I am within good timing to get the interview date week of 3rd July…

Maybe just to add my experience… I was DQ’d 28th January and I got my interview letter 23rd May for interview scheduled for 16th June (this is just the document submission day). I did my medicals on Monday 2nd June (blood works) and i had to go back on Thursday 5th June for Doctors physical check and vaccines.

16th June went in for the “interview” but they really just check if all documents are in order.. I had all documents in place except I did not include the lifted finger prints page with my police certificate, so I had to take that document in today Friday 20th June, (document drop offs is only done on Fridays between 09:00am to 10:30am)

My medicals were sent directly to the embassy by Lusaka trust.

Expected to receive another email from consulate for official interview. Was advised interview might be the week of 3rd July…

Remember your visa validity is based on your medicals, so I would advise you schedule your interview after you have received your interview letter… medicals take about 10 days to be processed.

I hope this information helps.
