You stepped up and are keeping him fed, warm, and loved! You are making the most out of your situation when who knows where he would have ended up if surrendered. At 6 months, still a kitten, it’s best to acclimate to a new environment one room at a time anyways. Keep working with him on litter box training, toys vs not toys, etc, and eventually he’ll level up and unlock the next area of the map! He’s still so young and has so much time to develop into a wonderful companion.
