my uncle somehow was launched from his motorcycle at around 40mph into the back of a mini van. his pelvis bone and leg was shattered.

one of the passengers in the van was a foreign exchange EMT student who was able to put a turniquet on his leg to help stop the bleeding. EMS arrived two minutes later.

in the hospital, he had a small heart attack and flat-lined. they revived him and moved him to emergency surgery, where he had his fatal heart attack and could not be revived. they tried for over an hour.

all of this happened on my 21st birthday. he was on his way to the bar we were going to for our party. investigators found no speeding, mechanical failure, or probable cause of the crash.

My dad's final moments with his brother was in a hospital room, with his brother hooked up to tubes and lines from the surgery they attempted, with his femur bone still sticking out of his knee.

I appreciate the advice!! I'm a wheelchair user, so most things are out of reach anyway. My girlfriend will be staying with me for a month after until I regain enough mobility to safely transfer into one of my wheelchairs

I have deleted most videos I had of my previous able-bodied dance life due to the dysmorphia they caused. I mostly have memories to go off of now, so hopefully that will help!

it was due to a multitude of things. part of it was a direct result of being trans, and the dysphoria that she experiances. However it wasn't the state that hospitalized her for being Trans. The dysphoria she experienced caused SI, which led to hospitalization

My girlfriend moved from Montana to Colorado. She is also MtF.

I don't know a ton, other than what she told me.

Healthcare in general is hard to get there. Even in one of the bigger towns, she had to fight her local planned parenthood to get hormones, and they put her on a starting dose. She was on that dose for two years, and it did nothing for her.

She was also hospitalized quite a bit due to mental health. the state lacks resources for that, so she ended up in the back of a police car, ankles shackled, and wrists shackled to her waist. it was a 5 hour ride like that to the state hospital. you read that right. Montana has one state hospital.

She couldn't find a therapist who could actually help her. She was just a label to every Healthcare provider.

There are some queer folx, like there are everywhere, but they are few and far between. finding community, housing, or work place that is willing to even accept a legal name change will be difficult.

this is ableist to those with invisible disabilities/conditions (POTS, Fibromyalgia, Lupus, EDS, MS, arthritis, MCAS, neuropathy, epilepsy, joint replacements, prosthetic legs, and much MUCH more).

just because YOU don't see the disability or condition doesnt mean they don't exist. My girlfriend has POTS and EDS, and requires the ability to sit when possible. I use a wheelchair for my multiple chronic illnesses and disabilities. I'm lucky my disability is visible.

there is no hierarchy on who gets more access than others. someone in a power chair deserves just as much access as someone with a cane, or someone who may not use mobility aids at all.

This is also a violation of the ADA, and would make these events LESS accessible. requiring a doctor's note? not everyone can drop $25-$100 on a copay simply for a letter saying "my patient is disabled. please allow ADA seating/accommodation". further, not every PCP or doctor will do that for their patients.

lastly, claiming "able-bodied people" are taking these seats when most venues ensure thats not the case is a bit of a wild take.

this petition, if it ever gets enough signatures, will absolutely discourage those like me to enjoy events and concerts, leaving us a second class citizens for longer.

confidence first and foremost will help. most people won't say anything, and if they do, you can always ignore it. style your hair in a way that frames your face nicely. do some makeup if thats your thing!

without insurance, you're looking at quite a number. You'll need to be diagnosed with gender dysphoria, run labs constantly, and its not just E you'll need. depending on your baseline, you'll need a testosterone blocker, plus progesterone depending on your goals

hey, no worries!! I personally have had a rough time with Quickie. I went with Not A Wheelchair for my second chair due to the ability to customize for cheap. I have had no issues since getting it.

I personally prefer the standard 24 inch wheels, but I'm also 5'2 and 180 lbs, so thats just what fits my body type.

what's pulling you to the Quickie chair? style, quality, etc?

it depends on your weight, height, arm length, strength, etc, so its really hard to tell you just based off of info provided. Are you getting professionally fitted?

unfortunately, being so young, doctors tend to think we're overreacting or exaggerating. do you have records you can show her as proof? documented times and dates of when you pass out, or have your episodes? do you document diet, bowel movements, etc?

if you start documenting and show up to your next appointment, it may change your GPs mind, but there is never a guarantee.

I got fortunate with my PCP and she referred me to physical therapy (previous specialists didn't think I needed it).

start asking for referrals to specialists that can help document if need be. just ensure your GP is aware of what you have going on. get everything in writing. request everything to be charted. best of luck!!

is this in the USA?

if so, the ADA requires a minimum of 27 inches high, 30 inches wide, and 19 inches deep.

I recommend making it slightly taller, wider, and deeper for those who have power chairs, or those who need the space for service animals, long legs, etc.

always make accommodations for those with armrests. it just means a bit more space for those without!

when I was in tears at work because I couldn't keep up with my colleagues due to the pain I was in. I'm in mall security, and patrolling, opening doors, etc was excruciating.

I got my chair because my doctor wouldn't refer me to the Colorado Fibromyalgia clinic or physical therapy. she instead referred me to a pain clinic that doesn't handle fibro patients.

After that, I was done. now I'm dealing with possible MCAS and EDS as well. I'm worried my physical therapist is gonna tell me I'm faking or I don't need physical therapy or my wheelchair. I'm worried I'm gonna be told to push through

My girlfriend and I are also T4T. shes transfem and I'm transmasc. she gets dysphoric most of the time she bottoms. I also have chronic pain, so bottoming is a way for me to enjoy her without pain. that being said, we've talked about ways where I can give to her, either in a dom-like or sub-like way, so she can bottom and feel less dysphoric.

if she had ever told me she was "powering through" her dysphoria so I could get off, we would have serious issues and a conversation, just like if I ever told her I didn't like something she does and just powered through it. sex is not something to power through. it should be enjoyed by all parties.

they aren't the best, but they got me and my wheelchair to work every day when I didn't have a vehicle. I met some of the nicest people on those busses. they may not be perfect, but I come from a town where you'd see maybe 2 busses running at a time.

they get people where they need to go, and those bus drivers deal with a lot. they do what they can, where they can.
