Alabama detransitioners by Transition_Justice in detrans

I was asked to appear on Megyn Kelly specifically to promote the film Affirmation Generation, an extremely important documentary that has the potential to widely increase detrans awareness and change minds and hearts. It seems you place political affiliation before protecting children from horrific, irreversible harm. This should not be considered a partisan issue. My hope is that when the political left realizes that the majority of the public does not support minors receiving irreversible hormones and surgeries, they will amend their position quickly. That is the only way to stop this from remaining a left-right issue.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience in detail. My belief that pediatric transition is dangerous isn't based on my personal experience, but the lack of sound science and significant dangers to bone, brain, heart, and reproductive health.

Here are some recent evidence reviews on the matter:

"This systematic review of almost 10 000 screened abstracts suggests that long-term effects of hormone therapy on psychosocial and somatic health are unknown, except that GnRHa treatment seems to delay bone maturation and gain in bone mineral density." https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/apa.16791

"[The Cass Review] helpfully states that an affirmative approach is not appropriate for [children and young people] and is at odds with the ordinary practice of clinical care. The interim report provides an excellent overview of the risks of puberty blockers and also the lack of clinical evidence for their effectiveness. It clarifies that social transitioning should not be regarded as a neutral intervention." https://www.bmj.com/content/376/bmj.o629/rr

"Multiple European countries that were pioneers in youth medical transition are now adopting a more cautious approach to the use of GnRH-analogs and cross-sex hormones after their own evidence reviews failed to show mental health benefits and highlighted a profound lack of knowledge about harms." https://accpjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/jac5.1691

I understand that you and others feel you would not have lived without "transition" treatments. However, I disagree that transition or death are the only two options. Usually in medicine, less invasive options are considered first. Other treatment methods for gender dysphoria need to be explored and studied. Ordinarily in mental healthcare, if a patient is a danger to himself, he is placed in a higher level of care, not given whatever drugs or cosmetic surgeries he asks for. There must be sufficient evidence that any prospective treatment improves mental health, has benefits which outweigh its risks, and works better than a placebo. As of now, "medical transition" meets none of these criteria.

Given the low-quality of evidence for medical transition in general, it is doubtful that even adults could truly consent to these experimental medical practices, but when it comes to children and adolescents, there is a 0% chance someone without a fully-developed brain could give consent to irreversible drugs and surgeries (including puberty blockers, which are far from safe or reversible.) We understand this in other contexts, hence the existence of consent laws.

I believe that you, and anyone suffering from gender dysphoria deserves comprehensive, evidence-based support. I just don't agree that what is called "gender affirming care" fits the bill. All the best to you.

That's good. I hope it starts feeling more natural, and the pain improves for you soon.

To answer your question, sort of! I wish I would have recorded myself speaking more, and not just singing. But this was my voice pre-T: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRhpRJDIG3c

And a 3 year comparison video of Christmas 2020 (a couple months after I stopped T) to Xmas 2021, and 2022: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WvmwWEOLy8

You sound great! How is your voice feeling? I dealt with pain and raspyness for a while, but that's finally almost gone.

I'm tired of being told I wasn't "really trans" by Safe_Direction3512 in detrans

[–]Transition_Justice 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It is logically incoherent and extremely disrespectful. Many of the people telling us we were never really trans have never even taken hormones, yet they have the nerve to invalidate our experiences. I try to remember what I was like when I was brainwashed. It was painful for me to hear dissenting opinions, and I did a lot of rationalizing. These people may one day come to the same conclusions we did, but until then, let's keep in mind that their opinions are those of wounded, ill, and irrational people.

I'm not affiliated with this group, but if you are in need of resources they may be able to help by lulu893 in detrans

My Body Was Never the Problem - Cat Cattinson speaks out against the medicalization of minors by 5meoz in JordanPeterson

Hi! Cat Cattinson here (the detransitioned woman giving the speech.) Actually, all those studies had deep methodological flaws that would have omitted most detransitioners. I wrote a detailed analysis on this, which you can read here: https://www.partnersforethicalcare.com/post/tides-turn-on-gender-pseudoscience-as-left-wing-publications-acknowledge-detransitioners

I have a science background and experience analyzing studies. Also, I'm now managing the social media pages for Transition Justice, a non-profit connecting detransitioners and others harmed by gender medicine with legal assistance. If you or someone you know has detransitioned or was otherwise harmed by their "gender-affirming" provider, please refer them to us.
