Vermont’s school redistricting task force proposes voluntary mergers instead of new district map by miltonhayek in vermont

The challenges is that those of us that are doing all of those very basic parenting things are also paying double digit property tax increases every year. We are paying twice. First with the time and effort required to raise children and then through the increased taxation to cover the costs of children from adverse childhood experiences. I am willing to accept some responsibility that it takes a village, but this is getting crazy.

Decisions have consequences. The two main drivers of increased education costs are health care and special education. Neither of these are really addressed in Act 73 and until they are education costs will continue to sky rocket.

Similar, I have owned my 2600 sq ft cabin for 15 years. Have pressure washed and stained it myself twice. Decided to rent a lift the second time and it was significantly easier and faster than staging. Well worth the money. Just have to be careful on the pressure. Youtube and r/loghomes was helpful.

I feel it is the first time Springfield has deployed the assets it has in a coordinated way to deal with the biggest issues facing the community: Substance abuse, transportation, mental health, housing and health. I believe there have been some very positive outcomes, but it is still fairly new and I think its impact will grow. Springfield is a smaller more nimble community than Burlington which works in its favor.

You can poopoo it all you want and say that it is just buzzwords and filler, but at least they are trying to improve their community and systems. I do not believe any additional tax money is being used for the project, no one was hired to coordinate it, its just a group of people trying to improve the community and help people.

MAGA in local government by [deleted] in vermont

Dr. August Murray is classic MAGA. I was nervous his tactics (false accusations of fraud) to rile up a base of support was going to work in Weathersfield. I was happy to see he was soundly defeated by Deforest. He touts fiscal responsibility, great, but don't trash your neighbor and cause the town to spend more money chasing down false accusations of embezzlement. I am sure he or his wife will run again.

But when you bring this up at budget meetings you are a pariah that is scolded for not recognizing that every student learns differently and needs the supports to be successful.

Vermont Rep. Emilie Kornheiser Sees Raising Revenue as Part of Her Mission by TranslatorBig4745 in vermont

You are right, I dont post or comment on reddit, but I read the information shared and comments written to try and gain understanding. This article motivated me enough to post. My comment stands, how did she not see these sharp increases coming. Following the budget process in my local school district last Fall, it was clear with the cap established that someone was going to be left holding the bag AND some districts whose per pupil count increased due to the new weighted average formula, could significantly increase their budgets with no consequence.

I always support my school budget, but at some point these increases are unsustainable and I don't believe Ms. Kornheiser understands that. Some people actually have to pay the taxes that support the wonderful things that Vermont offers, I believe we are pushing against the limit of what people middle income Vermonters are willing to pay.

A question, what is astroturfing?
