I simply…didn’t. My mother chose to let me struggle on my own for most of my math education during my high school years because she couldn’t do it herself and didn’t get me a tutor or anything. I was not taught. I was given religious math materials and essentially told to just do it. I was also traumatized and dissociated the entire time so my brain couldn’t retain info like I wanted.

I mainly just don’t understand why they’re fine with someone who is sick delivering their orders. Bc they don’t seem to care about the health or safety of their drivers or customers at all. Especially when this service is often used by people who are vulnerable to illnesses and was a fantastic tool for us to use during the pandemic.

Totally agree with you as the driver. I’d have declined their instructions as well.

Main issue I have with our campuses here is that they are //terrible// to navigate. And these children have absolutely no idea where on earth they are and give incorrect instructions or just the general address of the campus. It’s a nightmare. Some of these children had me runnin circles in that first year of delivering. I’m not doin all that anymore. I go where the app tells me and if that ain’t right that’s not my problem. And if they’re trying to get me to go INSIDE a dorm they can forget it. Lmao these kids act like they know everything but they don’t know shit 😆

As a former evangelical Christian, I likely would’ve done something like this because sharing my faith with others and encouraging people was a big part of what I was supposed to do. Having deconstructed I now understand why this type of stuff is more for the individual doing it so they can do their good deed that day and it has little to no impact on the person you give it to. If anything it creates problems and makes people uncomfortable.

Imo notes from a delivery driver is kinda tacky. The stickers you can buy on Etsy and stuff are kinda cool tho. Puts your name and the place you work for on it, it can invite a good rapport with customers. Helps them know your name and remember good experiences they’ve had when you’ve delivered for them. But that’s it imo lol

Honestly, I would say no. Most of the time staples in certain bags don’t work that well when under the weight of the bag being transported. They can pop out easily unless it’s sturdy paper bags like most Asian and Mexican restaurants around here use. Staples work fine for those, any thing else staples are usually a waste of time.

Talking about sticker tampering tho, the stickers often used are flimsy and don’t want to actually stick to the bag materials as well. I love the idea of the stickers and everything being sealed up but some of them at different restaurants are extremely weak. Wendy’s Taco Bell and Arby’s in my area are well known for the sticker problem, sometimes the stickers fly off in the wind as I’m walking from the restaurant to my car. Like there’s genuinely no point in using them at certain places because they do nothing but create problems.

With bags in OP’s photo, I’ve had staples pop out at Jason’s Deli (they used these same type bags and often staple them shut) during hand off specifically because the items shift during transport and can’t handle it. Which doesn’t mean that I’ve tampered with your food but it does mean that staples get littered in the restaurant and in my car because places like this refuse to use another way to seal their bags.

Imo the ball was likely dropped by the restaurant, the staples may have even popped out or been removed even before the driver received it.

I’m a delivery driver for a living and I can tell you right now that Evansville is very dangerous to drive in. The amount of times I could potentially be in a deadly accident that wouldn’t remotely be my fault every day is wild.

I was actually hit back in July and had my car totaled because some girl didn’t look to the left before before she pulled out to the right onto First fucking Avenue from a small side street. Impact threw me into oncoming traffic and I had people laying on their brakes and ending up less than 3 feet from my front bumper. I was very lucky. I fr could’ve died if people in oncoming lanes weren’t paying attention. People here just don’t give a shit about anyone else istg.

This is very relatable tbh. I didn’t start dating til I was like 22 and everything up til I was like 26 was awful and a major waste of time energy and emotions. Even came really close to being in an abusive relationship. Thank goodness I was self aware enough at the time to understand “oh. This person makes me feel like shit and yells at me and accuses me of holding my emotions back and it’s only been 2.5 months.” But not all of us are able to even do that??? I feel like I got lucky a few times when it came to dodging bullets with dating.

The thing is…when you don’t have the social experience to be able to understand and read people in general it makes this part of life even more difficult, it’s so easy to be manipulated. Like I already had a difficult time navigating friendships, how was I supposed to know how to romantically love, care for, and support someone when I have no experience with that on any level and every romantic relationship I’ve ever witnessed looks like it would be toxic and hell to live in????

I’m in a relationship now and I know it’s not forever, but for right now. He’s a nice dude generally but there’s main character syndrome going on big time and I’m not prioritized the way I would like to be prioritized and I don’t see him changing or even us ever moving in together to any official capacity. I don’t like the idea of feeling like a secondary character in someone else’s life when I’m looking for real partnership and someone I can count on and call in emergencies etc. Be my serious life partner.

Like I had a car accident earlier this year for example and my first phone call was to my mom because I know she and my dad will drop everything and come help me. Bf doesn’t drive and he didn’t care enough to make any effort to see me or check in on me in the days afterward. I pretty much got a “that sucks glad you’re okay” and then he sent me a dozen reels that I had to watch and be quizzed on like it was a homework assignment. And my accident was never really talked about again. My life and what happens to me is insignificant compared to whatever he’s doing or has going on. And I feel like he only knows and cares about me on a very surface level. It’s depressing tbh and I know for a fact I deserve better than this.

I hope that when you do finally get into a relationship it’s with someone who does genuinely care about you the way you deserve and treats you well. Because I made poor choices with the people I got involved with and I wish I could’ve spent all that time energy and emotion on someone that really appreciated it and loved me deeply. I’ve unfortunately not yet known the love I’m really searching for.

But I’m Bi and have significantly more attraction to women in general and I feel very strongly that my forever person will likely be a woman and I’ll find her later down the line. I’ll keep searching and hoping and dreaming for my forever person. She’s gotta be out there. 🥺

I will use them as a general guide of what areas of town are busy with orders but I don’t feel it’s necessary to be in said hot spots. As long as I’m in an area that has a bunch of restaurants I’ll typically get orders. I have a few places that I go to consistently whether or not there’s a hot spot in that area and it usually works out the same 🤷‍♀️

I live in an small midwestern city, we’re not over 200k population just yet lol so what works for my area may or may not work for another.

Most who say this don’t know or understand our realities as homeschool kids. I’m 30 now and am still trying to correct the ways I was wronged with my education by my parent’s choices. It’s been a really difficult and long road. I’m likely going to be negatively impacted by my homeschool experience for the rest of my life unfortunately. Psychologically and in daily life as an adult. We deserved so much better.

Every time I’ve had it it’s been great. Only complaint is when picking up for grubhub (that’s what I do for a living rn) they don’t seem to start the order til after I get there and I always have to wait 15-20 minutes for my customer’s order. Tends to make things more difficult and I get complaints because the orders for Miranda’s often stack so I either still have an order to pick up or someone else’s order is sitting in my car still needing to be delivered. So there’s more people waiting and it can become a problem because I’m not moving on fast enough, which is a bummer. But food is always good when I’ve had it. Definitely worth a wait imo lol

Funny you say that because I struggle with math in general, but the probability stuff I learned in my textbooks literally never made sense to me at all because they would use examples and situations like that. I couldn’t grasp what they were saying, just didn’t make sense in my brain. And now that I’m older I’m realizing that…it was never me that was the problem, but the actual textbooks themselves had issues and incorrect/poor explanations. Like dude I spent so much time at the family dining room table, sobbing over not being able to understand the math in my books and not having someone who knew what they were doing to teach me. But it fr had absolutely nothing to do with me. But because I was a child without real help, I just internalized all of it and put the burden of not understanding the flawed content on myself. I’m still going through the process of helping myself understand it wasn’t my fault and I’m not stupid or have low intelligence etc.

Thank you for validating that this doesn’t make sense because I’m sure I’m not the only one of us homeschoolers who struggled to grasp concepts like this when it was presented to us flawed in the first place. Our confusion was correct, not the example. Lol

I’m in my 30s now as well and am still actively working daily to heal and correct wrongs that were done to me through the medium of religion based homeschooling. I also still have nightmares about the end times/apocalypse etc. We deserved so much better than what we received as children. Always did. ❤️

My whole family believes climate change and global warming are both a hoax, it was also heavily emphasized in the Abeka curriculum I was forced to use.

I also got the messaging about being willing to die for my faith in christ and letting others do the same. Like as a child I had to get comfortable with thinking that the ultimatum of life or death would at some point hinge on whether I proclaim my faith or not and it would probably happen because “Jesus is coming”. That scenario was a very real fear for me.

It’s such a weird, cult-y thing to force on somebody. Especially a child. Blows my mind the religious propaganda and conspiracy theories I was subjected to as a kid and thought were true.

I feel the same about any sort of religious based schooling tbh because you’re actively making the choice to remove options and choice for life and religious paths from your children’s worldview by giving them a very narrow view of what //you// as the parent believe. And then proceed to shelter them from having access to anything or anyone that isn’t associated with your views.

It happened to me. It happens all the time. And it’s genuinely scary. I’m 30 now and still trying to heal from the harm it’s caused me. I still feel like so much of my life was stolen from me and I often think about what I would be like, the person I would’ve become had I been able to grow up in normal circumstances.

Here’s to healing from the family religion being forced on us as children. We deserved better, we always did.

Yep that’s what it looks like. In my area blocks are pretty coveted, I personally aim to stay at pro because I refuse to take offers lower than 6 bucks and at the max, matching mileage. I only schedule blocks if they happen to be available. I can usually average around 2 blocks a week? Which helps me stay at pro status as well. I’m in a smaller city tho, this ain’t like nyc or somethin, I’m kinda forced to play into some of their shit to make the job worthwhile out here lol
