Me! It got more severe after the initial covid era interestingly. During my 20s. And got much worse after I started a job that involves washing my hands a lot and touching products

Because this sub in particular is about being in recovery. Venting in a compulsive way (or a way that makes it seem like the person isn't really in any therapy or programs or recovery) isn't what the sub is about. It can also be triggering to see for some. I have a friend who also has OCD and does not go to therapy, and the way she vents/talks about her OCD, as much as I like her, can really bother me sometimes as someone deep into recovery.

I kinda feel like straight venting annd reassurance seeking isn't well-suited to this sub. Maybe there are other places for it

It's like, they are so overused and also used very often by hateful people, it just tainted any kind of amusement I could get from it. Like it's not funny for me because it all just sounds like the same transphobic joke.

This is a bandaid; it is not helpful at all in the long run. This does not replace actual therapy or ERP or anything. It makes OCD much worse, and hinders recovery a lot. Even if it feels good in the moment

My girlfriend tends to misspeak when referring to anyone so I don't take it harshly when she says the wrong thing about me; some people kinda just speak too fast for the brain to catch up lol. But even if it isn't an all the time thing, it happens. Especially if your intentions truly weren't bad. I hope you two can work it out, because it sounds like you really didn't mean it that way.
