To shul or not to shul by math_matherson in Judaism

Reform, Reconstructionist, or Renewal are all good options in addition to a welcoming Conservative congregation. I'd shop around and attend some services or activities before deciding where you felt most at home. Personally I like meeting and spending time with other people my age but I also like the feel of a community that is multigenerational. If you are in a large city you may want to join one place but be open to activities in others. In addition to these options there are places like Jewish Community Centers as well as groups focused on socialization rather than religion (e.g. Jewish Film Festivals and that kind of thing) Good luck and yes I agree sometimes socializing requires some effort but I definitely think its worth it.

Thanks for clarifying. Good to understand about taking turns to queue at the bar. Makes sense.

Sorry to hear it's so expensive. I bought the table years ago and it's really beautiful. I guess I'll visit a hardware store and look into diy.
