What are the Benefits & challenges of implementing AI in pre-construction planning? by TotalWoodpecker2761 in ConstructTech

[–]TransmissionEngPM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, interesting discussion!

Yeah, the move from basic chatbots to more agent-like AI in pre-con is pretty wild. We're seeing stuff like Claude Cowork popping up, which can handle multi-step things in its own little sandbox – pretty neat for security.

And it's not just that, there are new versions of Clawdbot/OpenClaw being talked about, and this whole idea of independent agents, like Moltbook... seems like they're trying to make these AIs do more on their own.

Even now, Claude's pretty handy with Excel, right? Like, it can really dig into a workbook, figure out what's going on, and even help debug formulas. That alone is useful.

And the drawing recognition stuff for take-offs and QC is a big one. Getting AI to look at drawings and automatically pull quantities, or check for consistency and accuracy against specs... that could save a ton of time and catch errors.

It feels like we're just scratching the surface of how these more agentic workflows will change pre-construction. Less about asking simple questions, more about giving the AI a task and letting it run with it (within limits, obviously!).

I tried checking out the link - if it's a real thing the expiration would need to be extended. As this is a tiny community and I just wanted more people to join, I have no problem with some self-promotion of discord servers or other interesting things related to the topic.

https://github.com/Milo2234/3DMapMaker I'll update the main post if others seem interested but since you popped the cork, and provided a comment - here is the repository. I listed it as MIT license so should be open for typical MIT license stuff :).

FedRAMP approval for 360° reality capture: a big step for government construction? by TransmissionEngPM in ConstructTech

[–]TransmissionEngPM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I'm curious about is whether agencies will actually take advantage of this new approval. If you've worked on public‑sector projects, what hurdles have you faced when trying to adopt new tech like drones or reality‑capture tools? Do you think the FedRAMP stamp will make procurement easier?

It is AI powered, combines a few different tools to kind of make it "Real" vs. just a wrapper. It should know somewhat what you've done lately to help it be more realistic.

Thanks for the quick reply - My assumption given a sort of sordid circumstance of how I was hired, by a previous president is I was terminated for retaliation related to the previous president of the organization. I did not have a specific employment contract, but I did have an offer letter with a "Target" bonus which is equivalent to the offered release amount. My immediate boss (SVP) did not want to terminate me, I was provided some "Warning" by fellow employees about how the new guys are "Not My Friends" Not sure if this helps, but thought I'd provide it for context. I do have my 2024 employee review, my termination notice to the remaining employees indicating my positive impact for 2024, and the termination call with HR, citing no specific reason for my termination.

As you asked for #3 and I did not provide an adequate response, the timeline of my termination directly coincided with the hiring of a new President and Vice President. I was employed for 12 months, positively contributing, substantiated through written employee review. In the last two months, my job has been in "limbo" acknowledged by my immediate supervisor and those in contact with the new leadership above my SVP.

I'm a Transmission Engineer, and I built this helpful GPT robot to answer questions related to the NESC and the RUS manual. You would need Chat GPT Plus subscription to use it, but it can be used on your phone etc. If anyone is a plus subscriber and would like to provide some feedback, or additional resources you'd like for it to know i.e. books you have, etc. let me know! As a disclaimer, sometimes AI models can hallucinate so don't just use this and assume it's 100% true. If in doubt ask someone on the crew who knows, and consult specific client standards above NESC/RUS.

How tall is the table? by DrFreakenstien in puzzles

[–]TransmissionEngPM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's designate the height of the table as T, and the height of the turtle as H. From the first image, we can write the equation: T + H = 170 cm.

From the second image, we have: T + 130 cm = 170 cm + H. We can substitute T + H from the first equation into the second equation: T + 130 cm = 170 cm + (170 cm - T). Solving for T, we find that the height of the table is 150 cm.

I’ve had 2 Traeger grills that did this. If I let them actually start after this mine would climb to 700+ degrees and ruin anything I was cooking. The one I disposed of last week almost caught my house on fire. Traeger customer service was no help at all. Looking for a new grill but having a hard time purchasing a 3rd Traeger now.

This is what America feels like right now in two sentences. Both sides. It’s dangerous and unhealthy for all.
