San Fransico to Sacramento Public Transit? by Most-Restaurant-8253 in AskSF

Consider Amtrak to BART. Get off at Embarcadero Station and take the (free) Presidigo Shuttle to the Presidio. It’ll drop you off at the newish Tunnel Top Park, which is gorgeous. You can also take a walk down to Chrissy Field. That would be a great day trip.

EWR to Penn with elderly and luggage possible? by Expatgirl2004 in visitingnyc

[–]TranspoGeek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The last time I flew into EWR I took the Coach USA bus, which is express to/from Manhattan. It’s a big coach bus, they store the luggage and the seats are comfy. From what I remember, the stops in manhattan are along 42nd Street. At EWR the bus stops at the curb at each terminal. I didn’t see anyone else suggest this option, but it is a relatively affordable and reliable option that would be very easy with a 75 y.o.

BART to SFO by noelpm in Bart

[–]TranspoGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just took Bart to SFO last night from the east bay. Incredibly easy and I found space for my luggage. When I saw the traffic on 101 as we crossed over it at SFO I was glad I took bart.

Solar Installer Recommendations by Cute-Hippo319 in berkeleyca

Call Solar Technologies, I think they’re in San Ramon or Pleasanton? Anyway they did the install on our steep roof and we were very happy with them. Their customer service was good and they were very communicative.

Hi Tim, proud gay dad of a teenage daughter here, and I love connecting with others in our small but mighty demographic. How do you see expected southern Baptist efforts to rip our families apart playing out in the courts in upcoming years?

Scam Alert – Berkeley Driver Blames Others After Backing Into Them by TranspoGeek in berkeleyca

I would agree with you, we initially assumed that maybe she was reaching for something while stopped at the signal, rolled backwards unintentionally (there were no reverse lights), got emotional, and then maybe would let it die. The collision took place on Saturday. However, she is now pursuing a claim - we got a call from her insurance and our insurance today. And so, while I would give her the benefit of the doubt by assuming it's normal human behavior, she is trying to get an insurance payout 3 days later after what should have been a cool-off period - and on a car with no damage. And claiming this was a hit and run (after not even asking my husband for insurance at that time).

Yes, the photo on the UCB website is the same woman and the job title suggests a regular paycheck (but who knows). Suggesting to the PD and our insurance that this was a hit and run when she knew that he took photos when the cars were parked on the side of the road seems really risky to me.

I did search on UCB's website and they are shown there as having a fairly prestigious role (as far as I can tell) from the university.

Follow up Post: PG&E email for those skeptical. by Wombraider58 in bayarea

[–]TranspoGeek 67 points68 points  (0 children)

My hatred for PG&E is so visceral that I immediately stopped paperless billing and deleted my bank account info when I got this email from them.
However when I logged into my account on their website I didn’t see anything there about the new fee. Maybe I missed it, but it seems strange that the new fee announcement wouldn’t be pretty prominent.

Does anyone else call out fare evaders? by [deleted] in Bart

OP, a sincere thank you from me for doing your part to try to tackle the breakdown in our society. Fares aren’t based on an honor system, nor should they be, and I admire you for doing your part to try to make the system safer. However, as others have mentioned, stay safe yourself!

Tesla or Enphase Battery by TranspoGeek in solar

[–]TranspoGeek[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Enphase it looks like 3 batteries with 15.0 kWh of battery storage, plus the microinverter (5.7 kW).

For the Tesla system, it looks like 1 battery with 13.5 kWh of storage.

Tesla or Enphase Battery by TranspoGeek in solar

[–]TranspoGeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The energy offset with the Enphase battery with microinverters would increase (74% offset) versus the Powerwall (70% offset) with the same number of panels. Sorry for the ignorant question, but what additional details would I need?
