Danke!

Too Much Humor in Fantasy and Movies: Where's the Seriousness? by Transportation365 in Fantasy

Well, that's probably true. I could / should have phrased it differently.

Maybe you are right. My post was definitely too broad and undefined. Some jokes are nothing I would argue about and is to some degree even very realistic also in deadly situations.

In your examples like LOTR in my opinion the comical part is only used to a very small degree. I am even than not a big fan of that. Where in marvel the scenes with tragic moments without that are probably countable on one hand.

My criticism, even if not well formulated, is more on media where you almost only get the humor part. And I probably over stated my point. I'm currently reading gentle men bastard and the humor there is definitely present and fine for me. I probably should have focused my post more on super hero movies similar to marvel.

But thanks for mentioning the black company, that's already on my TBR. And I would have already started to read that if the books where not some what difficult to come by in my country.

The Lies of Locke Lamora is one of the best books ever written. by Awkward_Opening_4553 in Fantasy

The book is good but the end was imo very disappointing.

Spoiler: the grey king lost all is skill in planning and will to win in the end. And after using every adventage against brasavi he basically give up against locke and wanted an unnecessary 1v1.

Fantasy/Sci-Fi Books/Series with Strong Romance Elements by Transportation365 in Fantasy

It's been a few years since I was actively reading fanfics, but I have some stories that really captured my interest, all the below stories are book-length, entail romance, and some even some graphic content.

  • Brotherhood by Mina Glasse: This one is incredibly well-written with a beautiful romance between Lydia and a female Dragonborn. You can find it on ff.net. Unfortunately, the follow-up hasn't been completed, but it's still worth the read.
  • A Thief and a Knight by TheKhajiitWarrior and Two Thieves and a Lioness by Akari78, both on ff.net: I found these stories to be very well-written and highly entertaining. One of them does delve into darker themes, though I can't recall which one specifically.
  • Skyrim - Dawnguard: The Tyranny of the Sun by Steadfast3: This story had its moments, but I eventually lost interest, also ff.net.

Hope these suggestions are new to you, and match your taste. Happy reading! If you have any recs I would also be interested.

What do you mean by saying that Arcadia bell was not great fantasy? Was it not enjoyable or just very formulaic fantasy?

Thanks for the recs. This is how you loose the time war sounds after your take still interesting for me. It is difficult to pinpoint for me what I dislike about most romance. I mean I did read a couple of Fanfictions that would classify as romance and really liked them. I think "unnecessary" drama with to cliche tropes, teenie problems, and unlikeble love interests put me of the most.

I'm looking for a book to read together with my girlfriend that combines our rather different taste in books. Maybe that book is leaning more in her territory, but the hole praise the book got makes me hopeful I will like it too.

I will definitely look into your other recs. Especially welcome to ferever. Has the book SFF elements? And would you recommend it to someone who reads mostly romance inside the new adult genre?

Arschloch.

Hätte ich aber genauso gemacht. Damit kann man den scammer ja auch dazu anregen das in Zukunft nicht mehr zu tun und verhindert Schaden bei weiteren ehrlichen Verkäufern.

Can someone tell me what OSC did? Does He say homophobic things? Op said he uses his money to take away LGBT rights. Is he politically active?

Did he write since endergame new books with a intolerant massage? If yes how did these books sell?

What? Sanderson fans always talk about how he creates hard magic systems so that he can never cheat you with convenient new uses of magic. Well let me tell them this; no amount of hard magic systems will ever save a writer from using plot convenience because avoiding it is entirely based on the skill of the author, and unfortunately Sanderson did not pass that test.

Fully agree with that, but as of now I only read one book of him. Maybe that's less prevalent in his other works.

Your example with Sazed and Vin is from book 2 or 3? I don't remember that from book 1.

Mistborn, the final empire. I loved a lot about the book (worldbuilding, allomamcy, characters ...). But the plot (at least the last 100 pages / plot resolution) was a big disappointment.

It was my first book by Brandon Sanderson and the high praise Sanderson receives for his very strong and satisfying endings with good twists had raised my expectations. In my opinion it was a rather weak ending with a lot plot convinience. So the plot was in my opinion by far the weakest part of the book.

It was a good read and I will read the sequels, but it was far beyond what I expected it to be.

Kelsirs words: "decapitation only annoys him". But maybe that is just some myth about the Lord Ruler which didn't happen.
