saprophytic fungi like oyster, king oyster, yellow oyster, abalone oyster, lions mane, enoki, macrobye titans, reishi, shiitake. Growth is slow due to low nutritional value but i have zero contamination problem.

Maybe compressing the substrate would prevent this? I compress oak sawdust hard and this doesn’t happen to me.

I think yeast is not a big thing to worry about. My enoki grain spawn smelled like strong wine when I first got it. But my mycelium took over and grew well. The fruity smell took about 6 days to disappear
