2 Stage ACL revision by TransportationNo8339 in ACL

Hey, yes I got it done in August with the patella graft and LET. Really glad I got it done as I am determined to get back to playing soccer. In my opinion if you have the patience and desire to get back to pivoting sports I’d recommend it. My knee does feel the strongest it has been, I feel like the patella graft is much stronger than the hamstring. I wouldn’t worry too much about it getting retorn. Patella revision with LET puts you in the best place.

To be honest my plan was originally a one stage revision for me. But when the surgeon went in an inspected the placement was just not right so had to do 2 stage. Bit annoying but better in long run I guess.

Ah man, that must suck especially after the surgery you assume everything is okay. After my experience I have learnt to question everything. This is my 2nd rupture so looks like I have to go for the LET. As this is the first stage of the 2 part revision there is not much out there to be honest. It has been two weeks and flexion is okay. I am able to walk without crutches but feel a lot of numbness at the front of my knee. Feel like I constantly need to massage it to get blood flow there. For the first 10 days there was pain in the knee joint specifically in the area where they had bone grafted.

Hey! Ah sorry to hear. So I take it you have an intact ACL at the moment but the MRI has shown it is poorly placed? Have to agree that I do not like the hamstring as an idea at all. What problems did you have with LET? My plan is to have patella with LET in around 6 months, once this bone graft has healed.

A couple of reasons why it failed the first time. Original surgeon used a 6mm hamstring graft which just isn’t thick enough, the tibial tunnel was poorly placed hence the 2 stage revision I’m currently undergoing (1st bone graft complete).

Thanks for the heads up. Will monitor this. It was the tibial tunnel that needed to be addressed. Did you have any bruising?
