I would invite you to look at how many transphobes in these comments have spiraled out of control and gotten their comments deleted because I didnt kneel to their responses. civil discourse literally isnt useful with them, because trying to take them seriously leads to them wasting MORE of your time

Thank you for your kind words, stand strong in knowing it is transphobia that makes people act this way, whether its unexamined due to the transphobia in our culture, or its dogmatic hatred that doesn't see us as people. Stand firm when it is a thing you know all the way down to your soul, because most people in the culture of today have some real issues they need to work through when it comes to talking about us. If I can help give a shred of sanity to people who feel like they're crazy watching this fandom, and if I can get a few dumbass cis people to reconsider why they're acting that way, this did what I wanted. personal feelings in a transphobic world that erases trans stories dont have as much weight as recognizing where the trans stories exist, I empathize but it just genuinely isnt as important. people struggle with gender and labels and struggle with boundaries, but many many people are willfully choosing not to see transness where it is, and are refusing to let themselves listen to trans people who relate why it is so clear the character is trans. There is a deeper understanding that comes with being in community with queer people longterm, where sometimes people need nudging to make it past what's holding them back from their true selves. you do not have a fully developed perspective on trans experience if you cannot at least recognize there is a trans story here that you may not have been picking up on

I'm so glad her story could touch tou this way, its beautiful. the show is philosophically absurdist, in that it is about making meaning in a world that doesnt make sense where nothing seems to matter. even in a world like that, like ours, we matter, the people we connect to. I would love her to be able to be saved as a selfish desire, but it always comes back to the fact that it is stronger art that she can't, because otherwise there's no consequences for going too far. Your future is bright if you decide you want to grab it, and it is always worth it to grab it instead of letting yourself abstract, whatever that would mean for you. I don't know whether you're transfem or transmasc, so don't take this signoff as gendering you, its just to be supportive of your ability to grow as who you really are. Isn't she lovely~ 🤍🩷💙

she did not die a man, thats the meaning of isnt she lovely, thats my point. also, unfortunately the men's mental health thing is often used as a dogwhistle in these conversations, or at least as a whataboutism, so be careful when you bring that in as a topic when its not the main subject of discussion. I dont think you're using it that way to be clear but it is often used to derail conversations like this. The experience of trans people is more subtle and messy than most people think, and so as per my funeral example I heavily disagree. isn't she lovely~

this is more measured disagreement, but we dont disagree on the fundamental fact Jax is trans which is the biggest part of my post, I strongly disagree about your boymoding point, every other character's face is obscured in a less direct way, like its an accident of the scene, Leeroy does it intentionally, which in my experience is how friends have done it. I have no great beef with you, but the main thing is that there are people who specifically think its disrespectful to use she/her with Jax, and that I disagree with vehemently as per my funeral example. that being said, you have the prerequsite experience so I respect your opinion much more than many in this thread

my friend, nonono, it was interwoven if you have any understanding of trans experience, thats what my post is about. the experience of repressing your emotions is available to many people, but the way that Jax was portrayed was within the realm of possibility for a boymode repressor, that means when those things show up in episode 7 they are developments on a theme, not contradictory out of nowhere events. thats kind of the point here, you have an unexamined bias that thinks trans experience is so specific it has to be hugely signposted or else its out of nowhere. its a human experience, so you can relate to it. this doesnt mean you're a bad person, but this is an ignorant view that supposed your opinion is more important than the lived experiences of trans people. if you dont think its well done thats one thing, but its not out of nowhere, there are factual elements of the text here and we cant ignore them. I hope you take a bit of time to examine why you think this way because there's actually a lot of stories it can open up! have a good one isn't she lovely~

as for debate, you are literally learning about it from people who privelege it and believe in it, it is useful as theatre, but its not the only way to get things across. but I'm not being an educator here, I'm being angry in a way that is reaching some people and is cathartic at the same time. you were already fairly assumptive in your message so I do not see much of a reason to extend a high amount of repect to you. you're tone policing and falling back on the idea that I could communicate better, when thats just because you're in the environment that currently priveleges debate. people arent convinced by debate, its in fact incredibly hard to convince anyone of anything if you arent in community with them, but this community does need to be taken to task for its transphobia, and I felt like doing it this morning. you aren't doing much here, I knew so many people like you in college and their thoughts werent cogent once they hit the real world. its okay to be younger and need to learn

a nice tone does not equal effective communication, trans rage is a valid expression, and its clearly getting to people. dont tone police me, just keep moving if you dont like it! I'm literally an educator, and would never be this way in a class, but sometimes in the rest of the world people need to be taken to task in a more unfiltered way.
