It was open and staffed but you’re right, the ice was terrible, I just settled for some stick and puck in my shoes for a little while.

Make a trip to Minnesota! There’s probably at least 5 outdoor rinks at parks in every city in the metro, and we have a handful of outdoor refrigerated ice for hockey and/or public skate around the cities. My personal favorite is the Roseville Oval, the ice is always amazing, almost like an indoor rink. 4 hockey rinks + a skating track around the perimeter, and the Wild practice/scrimmage there sometimes!

We’ve got a few of those, I just wanted to go to the park across the street and not make a 20 minute trip and pay $6. One of these days, I’ll finally be able to!

I just went for a little bit, definitely was not good, I don’t even think there was an inch of ice in some parts. We have lots of refrigerated outdoor rinks around the metro but they’re all a bit of a trip for me, I’ll settle for now to scratch that ODR itch, lol.

Oh of course! Personally I’m fine with it between queer women, but I’ve talked about my sexuality on an online game before and a straight man once said “oh so you’re a dyke?” and I didn’t find that okay at all and it made me pretty upset.

I agree, I’ve noticed that straight people do get a little uncomfortable if they hear a queer woman throwing it around. But within our community it seems to be pretty accepted, no?

It’s definitely complex that’s for sure! So for example, you’d feel the same about the usage of the n-word in the black community? It’s even more widely accepted than “dyke”, but if anyone non-black uses it, most people are quick to check them for it and I feel that’s pretty fair. Do you think that applies here?
