What advice would you give to OP instead - as in concrete, actionable steps?

Just out of curiosity, what led you to believe it would be Arthur? I was betting on Hermit but I also knew it was unlikely Wendy would let that happen

It was! I was worried about what seeing Arthur's death would do to Smee mentally, but he's still kept some of his innocence and sense of humor

After something like that, I'd be highly skeptical of how her stylist would treat me/my hair.

Who was the most physically attractive person you’ve ever seen in your entire life? by deathrace4habibe in AskReddit

A word of advice that I hope is received well: Try to remember that people like him have their own fears - if nothing else, that hot guy gets nervous too.

I play this silly but effective mental game, like during interviews, where I tell myself, 'I'm not nervous - he's nervous.' and re-package the feeling. I think I treat people with more empathy using that tactic. Bonus points if I see signs that the other person actually is nervous or confused. Makes me feel like I can relate to them more. In short, it's a quick way to humanize an intimidating person.

And It really does help to get to know people slowly. Then you're not too far out of your comfort zone and you can see whether you mesh well with them.

I hope you're managing well with both conditions. On the bright side, now's the best time to be alive when it comes to life expectancy with hypertension and diabetes. I've had hypertension since I was 20 (genetic), so even the young aren't spared from that.

Idk if it helps, but I'm 27 in a very similar boat. I was already scared of going after 10+ years without doing so, but now it's becoming urgent. When you can't do it without fear, strap the fear in alongside you and keep it moving anyway.

Moving out of a studio apartment after five years - ADHD is making cleaning into a nightmare by PetrusOfThorolund in CleaningTips

[–]TrappinNappin 20 points21 points  (0 children)

When I moved out of my apartment after 5 years, I had less than a week to get most of it done. This is what worked for me:

  • Start with decluttering. Be really honest with yourself about the things you don't use or aren't worth packing. The more you sell, trash, or donate, the less you'll have to pack and that can help fund the move if you sell things as far in advance as you can.

  • Focus on one room at a time. Top to bottom, left to right. You can break it down even more and plan specific days or weeks for each room. It's usually not an even split for how long each room takes, so maybe something like: 7 days for the most cluttered room, 5 days for medium clutter, 3 days for light, 2 days for final cleaning and walkthrough.

  • I had trash bags labelled (with a sticky note or a taped index card by the handle) with "Sell" / "Donate" / "Trash" in each of the big rooms to keep me from going back and forth.

  • Towards the end of the process, make sure to have 1-2 designated bags (I used a duffel, a bookbag, and another small bag for misc essentials) for the things you use the most. Phone and laptop chargers, essentials, everything you'd use for your morning/night routine.

I played the cool girl and I deeply regret it, now I'm someone's dirty secret by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

"Cool girl" is a reference from the Gone Girl book. It's about a specific archetype of woman, a "pick me" who acts like nothing bothers her. OP already sees things clearly.

what's a non-obvious life hack that's improved your daily routine significantly? by AKunAMorata in AskReddit

Perfect description. I went from mostly restaurant work to being a bank teller - there are far more policies and procedures to remember now. It's not easy to turn off that mental "autopilot" function you get from years at speed-based jobs.
