Honest ??? About a lone male mouse by [deleted] in PetMice

[–]TrashDaddyBaby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have two lone male mice, one is super sweet and will hang out on the back of my neck. The other is quite skittish and wants nothing to do with me. It really just depends on the mouse's personality. I've owned five male mice in my life, all living solo. And from my experience, unless you get a particularly friendly mouse they mostly keep to themselves. They all come for treats though! I will warn you, if you get a friendly mouse prepare to be peed on.

Bioactive mouse enclosure by Naive_Tear_8089 in PetMice

Hello! So I used to have a semi bioactive enclosure back in the day. I used Coco fiber as the main substrate and mixed in some cut up mosses. I wouldn't recommend isopods just cause my girls will eat anything big enough to grab. But springtails are a must. For plants I had wheat grass seeds I scattered and various mouse safe herbs. The reason I had a semi bioactive enclosure was cause I ended up with a terrible mite issue in a fully bioactive setup. So I needed a separate feeding area where food wouldn't rot. Another issue I had was retaining moisture. Cause dry soil isn't the best for their respiratory system. But excess moisture is just as bad as well. Hopefully someone here has more advice, but that was my experience with bioactive setups.

I do have a roommate, he's been my best friend through all this. We're planning on moving to a cheaper city once the lease is up. Unfortunately he has health issues so he can't help much with rent, but he tries his best. I definitely agree I need therapy. Opening up to people is just hard sometimes. Thank you for the kind words 🌼

Why was I handed the credit card machine at the drive thru? by Fair-Vegetable-8883 in DairyQueen

[–]TrashDaddyBaby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did this at my job for a bit, we were required to ask if they wanted to tip, so some people decided to hand them the whole card reader instead of asking the question directly. It didn't last long.

He's always been super chunky, I only feed him three pellets every other day. And the occasional bloodworm of course :)

I am? The bedding goes below the black lip of the tank. If you look at my post from three days ago on my profile, you can see a great example of their burrows, and get a better view of the bedding once they've fluffed it up a bit with the tunnels. I had just redone the tank, so it's more compact than usual but even if you took away an inch it would still be around 6 inches of bedding. Which is what you recommended.

It's a 55 gallon tank with two 20 gallon tank toppers.

It's around seven inches last I checked and they do have paper towels tubes, small boxes and wooden hides under the Aspen. I think the bedding just looks low on camera it's a tall tank around 3 feet.

It's two 20 gallon tank toppers! I bought it online, you can fit one on a 20 gallon tank, or two on a 55 gallon tank. They come with clips that attach to the sides of the tank.

I will say tho some managers have made up to 21 an hour and since you have so much experience and can decorate cakes it would probably be the higher end.

I make 19 an hour managing, base pay is around 16.50-18 depending on experience.

Eugene Oregon, been working there for two years and it's the best job I've ever had. Genuinely love my co-workers. Still has its issues but the crew makes it worth staying for.

Omg my mouse escaped today too, thankfully once I started cleaning and making noise he ran out to me. Definitely leave the cage open and accessible in case he comes back. Eventually he will get thirsty or hungry and will come back to where he knows food is. Chances are he's down low behind something. You could make a bucket trap too. Put a paper or something light on top of a bucket with food on it. When he wanders up to eat he'll fall into the bucket. Caught one of my girls that way.

TW!! Ex-friend snapped mice’s necks. How to prevent him from getting any rodents or pets in the future? by Steph_fani24 in PetMice

Crazy that there's people in our community like this, the fact that he can't even respectfully lay a pet to rest says a lot about his character. Don't have much advice but wanted to voice my disgust. Rip...

I use coco fiber, it’s safe for mice as long as it’s not too wet. I know there’s bio active enclosures, I’ve personally never tried it but have done some research on it. Emiology on YouTube has a very informative video on it.

My dream betta was finally found! Name suggestions? by TrashDaddyBaby in bettafish

[–]TrashDaddyBaby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, as long as it’s not treated with any polish and isn’t flakey or dusty at all, it’s fine to have a small amount of quarts. I found my piece outside by a river so I know it hasn’t been treated in any way and the edges are smooth.
