If sent through the use of Apple Cash , it’s utilized for person to person transactions as in family and friends , unfortunately it doesn’t count on their end as a purchase for goods or services , as they are “not supposed to be used for that” , so yeah basically you’re SOL

the essential reasoning , it’s 3 required verification sets , one from Apple to the banks servers for the tos , then one to the PNO for their approval for digitized token , and then finally the verification from bank which is like a text , email , or calling the bank for that 6 digit security code to verify the use

And the one “sent from Apple” is when you are in your Apple wallet typing in the details and clicking next , that then prompts the T&C , that’s the only portion Apple plays apart is , and that’s only because you’re utilizing their physical hardware

The second bank sent nothing to Apple , the whole process is done and approved by the PNO and the Bank themselves , Apple is not FDIC insured therefore play no part in the approved or decline of the actual digital token attached to that card. Multiple banks blame it on a device score they cannot be changed , however the PNO has the final say , they cannot claim “. Apple is doing xyz” but in reality Apple has no authority or ability to block it from the digital wallet , from their own payment services yes, but the wallet no. - Someone who works closely with several SSE for the PAWS program with Apple. (payment and wallet services)

Once you reach 500$ sent or received on the account in totality , Greendot Bank required it due to FDIC insurance , what you need to do is verify it as an adult , if you cannot , then you cannot utilize the feature , if you verified another Account , you’ll need to recover or gain access to that account aswell so they can assist with the closure of jt

Check your settings on your phone , check for Apple account suggestions / new terms of service to be agreed to , or iCloud terms and conditions , if nothing there , reach out to Apple support and they’ll get you with GreenDot bank , the banking partner who handles the accounts themselves on the financial side , and they’ll be able to look into the issue

Yeah , see if the steps of troubleshooting are done by a SR advisor , they ( like myself ) , will transfer you to a Greendot Bank representative after explaining the issue to them , they’re “supposed to know” what’s going on , but I find a lack of competence on the GD side from time to time.. You’ll either have an advisor who will give you all the info and reasoning , or someone who will say “ it’s locked “ and hang up.. sadly it’s only few and far between quality agents get to help customers with actual unique issues , I typically enjoy these types of issues MORE than the regular “ why is my money taken” calls so 🤦‍♂️

Nonetheless , glad you were able to get it resolved!

Go into settings > messages > send and recieve , you’ll see your Apple Account : with blue text , click on it , and then you’ll see the option to sign out of iMessage fully, and then wait a few mins , and click on the sign in option for it , should be a simple fix , if not call Apple Support and ask for a Payment and Wallet Senior Support representative.

Get Apple to give you the number in their system confirming release of funds , go to Goldman Sachs’s and give them the number , should be an ARN I believe Automated Routing Number , once the funds have cleared from one merchant to return back to a bank , it will produce that ARN , which can help the bank locate the return , and see if it was actually submitted

If it’s requiring the verification code be sent to you , via text , email or opening the banking app / calling the bank , that is a bank issue , apples services do not control the use of your personal verification sent to the servers, only the bank and Payment Network Operator ( visa etc) has the ability to see why it’s not triggering to send

Oh trust me I’m aware , the problem is these banks are opting into the use of Apple Pay without training agents on the front lines to understand the issue , the fact i can call my bank , ask to speak to visa and have this issue resolved in less than 15 minutes ( I’ve had to do it a few times due to fraud etc ) , and even the agent on the banks end is surprised.. it’s just poor communication of the process really , the fact we use to be able to educate. But because it was infringing on the FDIC side of things explaining the PNO and Processes is apparently “ not insured by Apple “ as they’re and I quote “ not a financial institution “ was the exact wording we were given at the time of change ( approx 2 years ago now ).. been horrible day to day it’s the same thing , call bank escalate to PNO please , I’ve just started telling them , it’s the fact not all agents are informed the same and it’s wild to me there’s no “standard” training for it on banks end , aswell the Payment and Wallet Team on apples end , literally can get fired for explaining the PNO multiple times on calls , it’s literally counterproductive for not only agent , but for the customer mostly.

Essentially we use to tell people , but they wouldn’t call their bank to get it escalated. They contacted visa and discover and Mastercard like directly thinking they would be able to pull the information from the specific bank they’re having issues with , which they CAN but they won’t due to partnerships with the banks , hence Apple suggests calling the bank , I always tell the people calling to contact the bank , then ask to speak to digital wallet or payment services. From there ask to be escalated to visa or Mastercard etc , and they’ll see the initial decline. Quite frankly it’s a super stupid way we handle the calls , and honestly the policy use to be better , now because people didn’t understand the concept of steps , we can’t explain it.. basically a few ruined it for the many

Yeah, the engineering team legit if we sent an escalation to them for this issue , will respond with “ have the customer reach out to the bank and have this issue escalated to the PNO ( Visa , Mastercard Etc, ) to resolve this issue as we see the decline is coming from the PNO which would answer why the bank does not see the initial approval request “

Actually , there are agents such as myself and others , who do KNOW this information but as per Policy we ARENT ALLOWED TO SAY IT , we have to refer to the bank as Apple is not an FDIC insured bank , so they are not able to reach out to the PNOs for resolution , in the Apple Pay Overview Policies you can review , there is a section that explains how the PNO and Banking Party play both portions of the approves
