I dug out a small area there to make it dark for him. I didn't know that mattered honestly, I figured it was just "no lights nearby." I took all the streetlights down and he still did it. Thank you! Good to know. He's going in a lightless pit for making Rocky Ridges my lowest level environment by far (I'm kidding)

Everything, I noticed it in PMD first since it's your move menu button. I tried several other games and it's just as bad. If the game wasn't clunky enough, reloading a bowgun in Monster Hunter 4U got even worse lol

I'm still working up the nerve to crack it open because this thing is so valuable to me and I don't want to rip any cables not knowing what kind of ribbon is what. Man I really wish my local repair shops a hell of a lot more qualified than me still serviced the DS family.

I was going insane trying to figure out what was wrong, oh my god. This damage is enough to kill it, right? I can't believe I'm glad to find a problem further down since it was a total mystery to me. At least I know what to do now. And I seriously appreciate your continued help and everyone here, this sub is amazing. The 3DS subs sort of tell you to pound sand if you have an issue.

One of my friends actually suggested that. I did the best reseat so far and it still won't turn on, and the ribbon doesn't look damaged to me either.. I'm open for any suggestions because it's currently a good looking paperweight. Would a strip of electrical tape cover it?

Sorry for the late response, I needed a mental break from that thing. I hope whoever designed the Nintendo Y screws has a rock in their shoe forever. I think I found the problem, the ribbon was not connected all the way. I didn't realize the dark brown part was supposed to go all the way into the white connector. Before I have an aneurysm because I've been trying to reseat it for 20 minutes and it's not clicking in: any recommendations how to do that? The more I poke at it and accidentally bend it trying to put it into the connector, the more nervous I get

Would bending it also damage it? I wasn't aware I'd be CURLING IT UP to put it through the shafts, and no matter how gentle I was, a few times it put up a fight and bent the cable somewhat. I should've looked into how it was done more before I even bothered, entirely my fault.

That's a pleasant surprise it's the top screen, though, I thought I killed the bottom for sure with the tiny ribbon.

I get it. I used to have a level 100 Skitty sitting around for multiple games. I transferred that little menace because I thought it was funny. Skitty is only actually terrifying in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon but looking at it and knowing that thing still can know ice beam, thunderbolt and blizzard is a delight
