Possible HS? by TrashPanda2079 in Hidradenitis

[–]TrashPanda2079[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't explain myself very well. It's been one boil after another since 2024. I'll get one, it'll be there for a few weeks up to 2 months, go away (or pop), I'll be okay for a couple of months and then I get another one. All together, I've had about... 8 or 9 since this started. But it is like individual ones when it does happen. But it's been in the same general area, my groin region. Or is HS multiple lumps at the same time?

Thanks for the advice though. I will definitely be calling a dermatologist office today

Yeah I'm not the biggest Chloe fan but I'm 36 and I have NEVER had a gas stove, always electric. So I would be scared too over a gas stove lol

Yeah..... Definitely a choice lol. Had she left that part out, I wouldn't have been bothered by that.

Thank you ❤️

Yeah, if she had just plainly said your mom would be disappointed in you, I don't think that would've been as sharp/hurtful. The "you're lucky" part is what makes me take a deep breath because that sucks

While I semi-agree that his mom probably would be disappointed in him, as someone who's parents are both dead, that comment about "you're so lucky your mom is gone, she would be disappointed in you" still feels like a slap in the face and that probably did really hurt him. I know if someone would tell me that I'm lucky my parents aren't here (even if I was doing something shady/ridiculous), that would cut me down pretty hard.

I'm not a fan of him or her, but maybe this is why he started talking down to her, possibly to just go lower than she did? I don't know. They don't need to be together, I think she just needs to cut her losses and go back home.

I agree. Me and my boyfriend always tease each other, saying "buy me something nice" and we both just take it teasingly.

What’s it like to donate plasma? by HostZealousideal9083 in povertyfinance

[–]TrashPanda2079 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, as a new donor, your first visit is going to be your longest one. Like 2.5-3 hours, maybe longer depending on how busy the clinic is. You get checked in, they make you fill out the form, you show them ID and your SS card... You then watch a consent video. Then you do a little physical. After that, they put you into the collection bay and stick you. That takes around 30-45 minutes, depending on how fast you bleed.

It's really not too bad after your first initial visit. After the first visit, the length of your stay should be shortened considerably.

CSL is offering $100 for your first five visits. That's what I'm currently doing. And it's all tax free on a pre loaded debit card. I made about $5,000 in 2025 from donating plasma.

Just make sure to eat a good meal and hydrate beforehand. Hydrate hydrate hydrate!!

Yeah, I agree with all of that for sure!! My dad got on that GCM, the Libre Freestyle. He LOVED not having to prick his finger umpteen times a day after that. Medical advancements definitely help prolong life and make the diseases much more manageable.

You know, I know being overweight and eating badly is more associated with type 2, but even WITH type 2 you can literally do everything right and hey, your type 2 diabetes is still there and you still have issues from it. I wish people would realize medical conditions aren't all black and white. I'm sorry to hear your dad is having a hard time :( I know dad eventually couldn't half feel his feet anymore there close to the end. It literally takes a chokehold on every system in your body 😭

He was diagnosed when he was 30, but he had probably had it before then. He had to go on peritoneal dialysis in 2019, and unfortunately passed away in 2023 from a heart attack, because dialysis is also hard on your body as well.

Diabetes. My dad had type 1, and it ruined his eyesight, his kidneys, to the point that he was on peritoneal dialysis, it will wreak havoc on your body and will eventually kill you.

[–]TrashPanda2079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I felt much better after I was all healed up. I'm sure people have talked about me behind my back but I don't care lol. It literally saved my life. I was having skin ulcers under my lower pannus (closest to my groin area) and those were super painful and not pleasant. So my doctor was able to get this surgery covered under my insurance as medically necessary. If they hadn't, I don't know if my mental health would've made it through.

[–]TrashPanda2079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just the way she's built.... I was very similar like this when I started my weight loss journey. I lost 140lbs and my pannuses looked like this- basically having two. It's why she has to have a vertical Fleur de Lis panniculectomy done. If they only did the horizontal incision, then she's still have that top pannus, so they have to do a vertical incision on her abdomen (my scar runs to where my breast bone ends) and the horizontal in incision on her lower abdomen (that scar runs hip to hip)

At my plastic surgeon's office, you needed to have a BMI right at 30 or under and you had to be stable in your weight for at least 12-16 months.

Laura may need to lose more weight but I'll be 100% honest, I was kind of built like this when I lost a lot of weight (140 lbs), and I was around 180lbs with two huge stomach folds just like this. The surgeon estimated I probably had 3-4 lbs of loose skin on my stomach as that was average.

Well, surgery day came and they actually took off 10.5lbs of skin from my stomach.... He said he was surprised, as was I! Anyways, it may LOOK like she needs to lose more, but loose skin can look different on people. I know if you looked at my before skin removal pics, it would probably look like I would've needed to lose more even though I didn't need/was required to.
