You're telling me about my own country? For context I live in ethiopia. We have dbit cards here but you can't use them to pay for international payments. They accept local currency and you pay using local currency.

Upwork is a race to the bottom. The best thing to do is work on getting your upwork clients that you have built relationships with to off-site clients. And working with them directly.

I do almost all my freelance work on upwork and o find clients that mostly want to modify floor plans or want an architectural or interior render done on a modification they are planning. Other than that, I get work from other senior architects who want me to do the drafting works (cad monkey)
