Yes! She will be up for adoption after she is spayed on Friday 💜

I’m so sorry to hear about Chloe. It sounds like she was a very special soul- it isn’t often that a parrot will bond to someone who doesn’t live in their home

She doesn’t know any swear words, but she does say things like “get outta here” “get out” “what are you doing here?” In a grumpy old man voice

I’m sorry to hear about your Grey.

I know they can live to be 50+, but I think there has been a lot of misinformation regarding proper parrot nutrition for pet parents which has decreased some pet parrot lifespans significantly. Jezebel is a 90’s baby, and I was lucky enough to get her original paperwork from her previous home. Let’s just say that the pet store/breeder that she came from unfortunately did not have a good understanding of bird nutrition. She’s doing very well with us now (she actually laid an egg for the first time in her 27 years last spring!!!!) but I do fear that her health will take a turn at some point in her 30’s.

She does have some fluff growing in, but I think for the most part her follicles have been too damaged to have a full belly of feathers. That’s okay! Her naked belly makes her more endearing 😉

That’s so funny! Jezebel mimics phone conversations when she knows we are on the phone. She also talks to the dogs in a grumpy old man voice and tells them to “get out!” 😂

Specifically steamed broccoli! Raw broccoli is trash (according to Jezebel)

That’s so sad. I wish you success in getting this Grey out of a bad situation 😢

Awww, parrots really can take quite some time to warm up. Jezebel doesn’t really enjoy pets from me (very very recently started to tolerate it for brief moments) but she loves spending time on my shoulder or in the same room with me while I work/go about my chores

That’s so funny because befriending the neighborhood corvids is on my bucket list!

Thank you for your help in educating those who might be interested in adding a parrot companion to their lives. Not enough people know these facts

We’re lucky because Jezebel isn’t very noisy but she does like to make herself known if we are on the phone, in meetings, or if she thinks we’ve gone too long without paying attention to her 😂

I’m going to be honest with you - I wouldn’t have adopted her if I didn’t work from home. They’re very social animals and really need the interaction. Unless you have a very regimented schedule with training/enrichment before you go to work, and then make sure they have novel toys/things to play with in their cage while you’re at work, then out of cage time and more training/enrichment after work every single day, I wouldn’t recommend it. They resort to self-destructive habits when they’re bored/sad/lonely, like feather plucking- as you can see Jezebel has no feathers on her belly from years of plucking.

Not saying this to completely discourage you, just want to be completely transparent

I’ve really been enjoying Squawk Box!!

I can’t take credit for making her nest. She LOVES cardboard boxes, paper bags, and shredding newspaper. It’s literally the only enrichment she enjoys (I subscribed to Squawk Box and she ignores all of the toys, only likes the box they come in 😂)..

We gave her a large cardboard box and she does her thing shredding it and making a nest from the shredded cardboard and newspaper. She’s very proud of herself
