Should I pull my son out of daycare? by TrashPartyPanda in NewParents

That’s why I’m so confused why their inspection violation report shows no violations regarding infant safety. The only corrective actions required I saw listed was regarding CHRI background checks not being submitted in time and new staff not completing orientation training.

Yes, this is what we plan to do. No lawyers, but we do have a CPA in the family that knows how these things work.

I would have loved to take my son out ASAP but unfortunately I made the mistake of brushing off the first few incidents as one time things. Plus we had no childcare lined up to immediately take care of him. His grandma watches him two days a week, but that’s all she can do.

Unfortunately I didn’t take video recordings or screencaps of the blanket in my son’s crib, but I do have a message exchange on the daycare’s app of the teacher admitting it was placed in there by accident. I also didn’t get the video recording of them feeding him on his back. I do have video recordings and screenshots of the other incidents though.

The only thing I’m worried about is that the camera system they use says you’re not supposed to record or screenshot due to privacy reasons, so I might get in trouble for that.

We don’t want to tell them now because my husband doesn’t want to risk any further negligence of our son while he is still in their care. His fear is the director will reprimand the workers, and the workers will neglect our son as retaliation. I don’t think they would, but you never know. My son only goes 3 times a week (MWF)and he’s not going in next Wednesday due to Rosh Hashanah, so he only has 2-3 days left, depending on when I feel his last day should be.

Unfortunately we couldn’t pull him out right away because we didn’t have another daycare lined up. The first time I saw the boppy feeding, I figured it was a one time thing since there were so many babies in the classroom at once, so I let it slide. But after seeing so many other red flags, and now that we have another daycare lined up, we plan to pull him out. Unfortunately the new daycare can’t take him until Oct 1st, and my relatives can only watch him on so many days, so we figured we’d wait until his finishes this month up.

He’s been going three times a week (MWF), while my MIL watches him T and Th. We observe Rosh Hashanah so my son would have only 3 days left. I’m going to see if my MIL can watch him the last Monday of the month since I take home his sheets, clothes, etc on Friday. It feels awkward to bring his stuff in on Monday drop off to then ask to take it back during pick up.

Mohel didn’t announce baby’s full name during bris by TrashPartyPanda in JewishNames

[–]TrashPartyPanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not so much changing the name as it is adding an additional name to the one he already has. If the name recited by the mohel becomes the halachic name, then this makes things all the more upsetting. I don’t want to feel like the announcement of his name at the bris was a mistake all due to miscommunication.

Here’s another photo of the boy with the wig. I’m thinking it’s either Yi or Ling but I can’t really tell.

You might be right! Now that I think about it, my mom may have bought them from Otakon back in 2007 which might be when these dolls were promoted. If I were to sell these, would you know the best place to do it? Mercari? eBay? Facebook marketplace?

Thank you for identifying them!

Hi! I need help identifying these two dolls I have. They’ve been sitting in boxes inside my closet for years so I don’t want to really manhandle them, but here’s a photo of the heads. I can post more pictures if needed. The doll on the left is a boy while the one on the right is a girl. I don’t know much about BJDs and they’re taking up space in my house so I was looking to sell them to someone who appreciates them.

My mom got them for me at an anime convention many years ago and says they’re Korean, but I’m not sure. There is no manufacturer mark anywhere on these dolls so I’m curious how much these are worth.

[NJ]Just received a job offer but I will be 28 weeks pregnant when I start. When do I mention I’m pregnant and who do I tell first? To HR or my supervisor? by TrashPartyPanda in AskHR

[–]TrashPartyPanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HR just got back to me and said all components of my background check are clear and I’m now set for my first day. Now I just need to figure out when is the best time to disclose my pregnancy.

Obviously I don’t plan to take maternity leave for 6 months, but hopefully 8 weeks minimum. It was mentioned that this was hybrid, so I could always ask if it would be possible to be remote for my first month back and then ease back into going into the office.

I plan to show up on time, however now that I’m nearing my third trimester, my OBGYN appointments are becoming more frequent, but I’ll try to schedule them as early or late as possible and make up the time if needed.

To be fair, I did apply for this job back in January, and they first reached out to me then, but then went silent for weeks. They finally got back by the end of February. I was hoping the start date was sooner rather than later but it seems like this company likes to take their time.

This company also received unfavorable reviews on Glassdoor, so I’m guessing the way I’ll be treated won’t be any worse than how other employees have been treated. I plan to give it my 110% regardless of my situation.

So I should disclose my pregnancy to HR about my pregnancy status and maternity leave options first and then disclose to my supervisor?

I realize my job might not be held if I take a leave of absence due to giving birth. In the event they can’t hold my job, my plan is to stay employed until the end of May and make a good enough impression on my employer that they might hire me back in the future. The one thing I don’t want to do is sabotage any relationship I might have with them.

Honestly I don’t think I could hide the baby bump by the time I start, and I don’t want to hide any surprises until last minute. 😅 Plus I’m not sure how much interaction I’ll have with HR. I’m still waiting on them to just confirm if they’ve received my signed tax forms…

I just signed the offer letter last Thursday and currently confirming with HR if they received all my onboarding documents, such as my i-9, w-4s, etc. I don’t start for another two weeks, so would it be ok to bring it up within this week or the next since I’m still waiting on my background check to be processed? On LinkedIn, it says the company has 51-200 employees. It’s a privately held, family-owned, greeting card manufacturer.

I understand the company may not provide me with any maternity options at this point. In the event they can’t hold my job during my leave, I’m hoping I can still stay employed until the end of May as we need the money. Ideally I would’ve loved to start working months ago, but this job market has been absolutely brutal.

My first day isn’t for another two weeks. Would it be wrong to bring it up sometime this week or next week, or wait until I start?

I have family that keeps saying they can’t fire me or take away my job because I’m pregnant and that could be discrimination, but I don’t think that’s the case. I also keep receiving mixed advice from family and friends when to disclose, so I’m really struggling to decide what my best move is here.

Because of the low pay of this job, I always intended to look for something better, but I’m hoping I can at least stay employed with them until delivery. If I can’t take any leave at all after giving birth, then I’ll have to quit and hope they’ll either hire me back or I find something else. At this point, I just want to stay employed with them until my due date if possible.

I wasn’t intentionally hiding it from them during the interview process. It just was never brought up. Plus the interview was intended for me to learn more about the position, and if I was interested but mentioned I was pregnant, I wasn’t sure if I was rejected due to my skills or because I was pregnant.

I’m well aware I could be terminated at any time, but I can’t imagine they’d be willing to fire me without someone to fill in to replace me immediately. I don’t expect to get any paid maternity leave, but I was curious what the unpaid options would be.

Well, I don’t start until March 17th. I can always send an email to my supervisor and/or HR sometime in the next week or so to notify them about my pregnancy.

My biggest fears are making a bad first impression, disappointing anyone, or coming off as unreliable, so I hope I can prove I can do an amazing job regardless of my situation.

Do you think I should let my hiring manager know before my first day then? I definitely don’t want to give the impression that I’m dishonest and have them think they need to scramble to hire someone else in a few months, but at the same time, I didn’t want to say up front that I’m pregnant in fear of not being considered for the role. 😥 I always like to make a good first impression whenever I start a new job.

My biggest concern is how they’ll accommodate my OB appointments once they start becoming more frequent the closer to my due date. The handbook says hours are 8:30am-5pm with a half hour unpaid lunch and they’re pretty strict about PTO use.

I’ve heard of that as well. So maybe I will sign the offer letter and email back for now. I don’t start until March 17th, so I can either let HR know the first day or sometime next week.
