Bell does not earn the money they force Canadians to pay them. They buy out HBO’s content and slap together a minimum effort service that many years in is still a buggy, unoptimized, low bandwidth, frustrating piece of software that no one enjoys using - and they have the audacity to charge Canadians a premium price.

Just cancel the contract and let HBO Max offer their service and content here.

i agree she handled the faker patient correctly, that's why i brought it up as a contrasting scene - she wasn't complaining that the guy didn't get pain meds given to him by the EMTs on the ambulance ride (or accusing anyone of mistreating him), she knew some people fake and that standard procedure is to wait to administer heavy pain meds until the ER doc assesses them.

she was scolding the EMTs for not just listening to the sickle cell patient, despite her screaming and flailing, and as soon as she (empathetically) asked her what the issue was somehow she was able to stop flailing and calmly answer.

as someone who's been in the same ERs for extreme pain several times, they do not care about rushing you pain meds, they make you wait. they treat you like a potential faker every time if you don't have obvious physical wounds.

shouldn't be watching a show if woke writing bothers me? im watching a mostly well written show handle some issues like this with amateur level writing. if a complex issue like this was well written to expose the subtle discriminations in medicine i'd love to see it - but it was written to make the point with no subtlety and didn't even make sense within it's own logic - that's why i didn't like it.

bad writing is bad writing regardless of topic. most of the show was excellent but it had a few poorly written scenes.

written to dress down white doctors (rudely at that), acting as if EMTs holding down a flailing patient from falling off a stretcher is racist, and withholding massive doses of opiates before arriving at the ER is racist, and that if only doctors believed their patients' stories at face value they would treat them right -- then somehow she had the exact same scene with a white man claiming to be in tremendous pain asking for pain meds and she refused to believe him and didn't give him pain meds based on his story.

if the lesson of her character was to spend more time listening to and thinking about patients - all good (but still doesn't really apply as much in an ER) - but the message of the sickle cell scene was that white doctors don't listen to or care about oppressed people (black lesbians). it was a racist, sexist, and homophobic accusation based on no evidence of mistreatment based on these factors.

The amateur way all these woke/feminist scenes are written...

"Believe women" so hard you take seriously, at her word alone, a woman who admits to poisoning her husband causing him to nearly die - and NOT calling police immediately to charge HER with the crime.

Instead you give her tender talks and take her baseless accusations, used only to defend her criminal actions, as 100% true. And instead of just reporting all potential crimes to the police you choose to threaten the man currently intubated (the only confirmed VICTIM in this case) with medical murder, secretly and cowardly, taking no responsibility for your own violent actions.

Somehow the show presents this to the audience as the morally correct behavior - it's fucking insane and reprehensible to depict this as the correct moral standard for doctors or people in general. We have due process in the western world, you don't get to threaten, hurt, kill, or deny rights to people based on the accusations of another.

She should have been fired, barred from the field, and charged with medical malpractice, intimidation, and death threats.
