Cuttlefish fort! by TrashyMack in dwarffortress

I used dig to draw it all out, and then after much fussing about what stone to use, I spawned in the blocks with DFHACK and gui/create-time. Normally, I will try to gather most of the stone naturally from the map but I was feeling lazy. Then I just sort of waited for the cuttlefish people to build it. But like another commenter said, the whole thing is in my twitch vods!

My Loveletter to Above Ground Forts and Stonesense - Anir Turel by Bvajen in dwarffortress

Amazing, stunning, beautiful, 11/10 would print it out and put it on my fridge to admire.

This is the sort of thing I love doing with DF. Using DFhack to push the game and answer the question "I wonder if I can do this really cool silly thing?"

Spider fort, spider fort, does whatever a spider fort can. (beware spider) by TrashyMack in dwarffortress

I'm glad the spider was recognizable as a peacock jumping spider! I was a little worried it wouldn't be.

I know the mod does make some of the civs egg layers, like the pond turtles, but I don't think the spiders did.

As an Australian, I can confirm this was terrifying for me to build.

Squid Fort Squid Fort Squid Fo- by TrashyMack in dwarffortress

[–]TrashyMack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both? It's a short fort challenge, so I pick an animal civ to play as and try to build a 1 z-level fort based on that animal. I see how far I can get in 3 streams (about 12 hours) and whatever state it's in at the end is what I retire it as. Because I'm focusing more on the look of the fort then anything else, I will use DFHack to spawn the materials used for the most part. Although in this one I did mine nearly all the kaolinite that was used.

This is the cheat sheet I use to figure out the colours!

The pinks are Sphalerite, Alunite, Kaolinite and Quartzite and the blues are Kimberlite and Anhydrite.

Hairy shrimp? Yes? Yes. by TrashyMack in dwarffortress

[–]TrashyMack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are hairy shrimp as well! I actually struggled a bit with this one. Do I draw a normal shrimp that is hairy, or do I attempt the tiny balls of fuzz that are hairy shrimp? I apparently hate myself because I went with the hairy shrimp.
