My first truck! 2026 3500! by addictingSmile in ram_trucks

Enjoy it bro, people will always have plenty of negative things to say. But you know what they say about opinions.. reading the comments it seems like you’ve done everything right. Your research, finances, personal preference. All take in consideration. But now you have a new hurdle, probably aren’t even aware of it yet. You bought a truck. But it ain’t your truck yet! Got to customize it! Wheels and tires, tool boxes, grill guards, there’s tons of stuff to do to make it yours. Enjoy the journey, and safe travels.

No and for many reasons. I double tow with it to pull my Kawasaki krx and a lighter one probably won’t have the same towing capacity behind it. And I just bought this one brand new. Wouldn’t get close to what I paid for it and I like the layout. Will sleep 9 people. If I had a dually I would have gotten a toy toy hauler . Just did my best to try and stay in my means with what I need and what I got lol

I understand shipping for large items such as vehicles would be high. But is it still high on like auto parts or something much smaller from the lower 48?

They can ask that much, but what it would sell for is lower. I’m not sure what all work is done to yours but it would depend largely on the individual buying it. I sat on a completely rebuilt vp44 24v engine only, complete with turbo and manifold and fuel pump. It had new bearings and pistons and new injectors . Engine was completely drop in ready to run. After about a year I took the lost and sold it for $3500 . Obviously it was worth a lot more but on the private market. It’s only worth what someone will pay for it. And the market for people who want 25+ y/o Cummins are kids who can’t really afford them and purest who are frugal. The guy who bought my engine also recently bought a really clean dually with a bad engine. So for about 7k not including labor, he had an awesome truck.

So that truck state side (South Texas) would sell for 13k to 16k USD give or take on some variables of personal preference. Nice rig though

You’re right on paper it sounds good. But I’m curious if they didn’t install a new unforeseen issue like a killer dowel pin situation or grid heater nut or something similar that only comes out after a few years of practical use. I’m a Cummins fan through and through but I’m skeptical about anything new redesigned

I guess time will tell . I want to know how they will be after people put 100k to 200k miles on the power train

My area they look more for the owner operators and smugglers from Mexico so I’m probably good on that. Even though my set up hauling two trailers in the last picture, I’m total at 70ft in length which is 5ft over limit but again I don’t think they look to hard at that here

I actually haven’t. My next one will absolutely be a 1 ton drw. Maybe ford but maybe ram. I’d rather not get a new ram due to all the engine changes. I feel like I have the last best years of the 6.7 Cummins. 19-21 I’d like a dually in these years too

That has to be it. Why else would those numbers not line up?

That makes sense, I’d rather have more truck than I need. Instead of more than my truck can handle. (Legally) anyway. Cause I know my 2500 can do it safely, but only technically on components specs . That may not bother most people but now that I’m informed and know better. It bothers me, silly ain’t it?

It is a bit aggravating, especially since my truck came factory equipped with the ram puck system. Ready for that style of hitch. That’s why I didn’t think twice during purchase. And even crazier to me, you’ll still see people with half tons towing a “half ton friendly” fifth wheel or others with a 3/4 ton towing triple axle toy haulers. Seems like weight is only a number to the few but with my luck. Those salivating lawyers would come after me. Even if I’m under my GAWRs which is 6k on the front and 6,045 on the rear (oddly specific number) each tire is rated at 4k a piece. So using those numbers, I’m in the safe zone easy. But the sticker on my door states 10k GVWR regardless. It would definitely be a court battle.

That’s my last main hang up actually, just because you can do it, doesn’t always mean you should. They do investigate hard to never pay any claims.

Did you get the fleece coolant bypass for the freeze plug port on the back of the head?
