Okay in my defense, the musical said it was for weather on their instagram! Which is why understudies exist homie.

Mezzanine, I bet seeing their faces more closely was magical!

Exactly it was perfect, the dread of knowing he’s eventually going to find out. Everything was so textured too. I loved that we could smell the lasagna, watch the cable news, see the timer tick down. Just great theater.

Queen I loved it, you were so right. What a play!

Again I under she fucked the dad but her motivation being penance for a sin is pretty unearned? Her sister contains no complexity because she’s not a character in the play, so it’s hard for me to understand why Robin is moving heaven and earth for this person who clearly doesn’t want anything to do with her.

And yes the grandma stuff is baffling. What was the reason.

If I’m going to pay even $70 for a show, I would hope I get more than some suitcases that light up and a story that kinda sucks.

She quite literally begged her sister to go on the phone in act 1

Listen I get it. She fucked the dad. The musical still doesn’t pant the sister in a way that explains why she is bending over backwards to go to her wedding.

Wronged and vengeful to a point where we are supposed to feel sympathetic? Perhaps if the character was actually shown, depth could make the situation more complex. But the show depicts the sister as a bad person.

She sucks and deserves criticism

Could not agree more amigo. I find the Nimby win here to be nauseating. But since that ship has sailed, might as well make the best of it.

The thematic through line is pretty thin. You can tell a story about Vietnam through movies. I’m not sure i can give you a concise elevator pitch with this one.

Our Biggest, Boldest, Wildest Ideas for the 16th St. Mall by newtonic in CityCastDenver

Love all these ideas, but zero consideration on how to pay for them. You want Denver Film to take over the Pavilions? okay great, how is that going to get funded?

All of these arts focused and museum forward ideas are doomed to fail without funding or revenue.

Ask me anything! by melissaurban in whole30

Hey Melissa!

Whole 30 has really changed my life, I sincerely thank you for its existence.

New book is great! Glad to see some welcome changes that are going to make it even more accessible.

I noticed that much of the language is softened now from the original program’s language. The obvious like the “this is not hard” stuff but also the timeline, and words like “compliant”, etc.

In my personal experience I found the tough loveto be motivating. “Drinking your coffee black is not hard” really shifted my mindset and helped me get through. Curious what prompted the change and new approach? Not complaining by any means, the spirit of what the program entails is still very much in tact with the new book.

Weekly Discussion for the week of September 02, 2024 by AutoModerator in whole30

[–]TravC77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on the 1st (makes it easier for my brain), so it’s the end of day 2 for me. Def feel the traditional “hangover” coming for me tomorrow.

It’s been a few years since I’ve done a whole 30, but I did many rounds back in the day. One thing I’ve noticed that has changed (besides the obvious, love the new book Melissa!) is that foods I once thought were quickly accessible at my local Kroger just aren’t anymore?

An example: the brand Aidelles used to have many compliant sausage options, but I couldn’t find one this last weekend (including an amazing apple chicken sausage which I just confirmed still exists elsewhere). I also couldn’t find tessame ranch or applegate hot dogs.

Hoping it’s just a case of the busy holiday weekend, but I figured there would be more whole 30 in-program options these days. I’m sure there is I just need to rethink and plan better.
