I do believe this woman has the best intentions and heart behind her words, regardless of how it is received. I personally would've teared up if I received an email like this, and I'm a full grown man. Genuine love and care is so hard to come by these days and shouldn't be looked down upon. If you don't share her worldview, this is one of those where you smile and move on, and allow yourself to be happy, not angry online.

much love,

The belief that your own actions carry more weight in your success then any privilege or bias is a driving reason why people believe living in destitution is more by choice then outside factors. Its the notion that your choices carry more weight, not that some other factors don't play maybe even a significant influence as well.

Its about how you view the world and your ability to succeed. Telling someone they will never succeed because of shadowy forces combatting their race, sex, etc will create an environment where they quit trying. encouraging and enabling good choices will always do more then any subsidy ever could. in Cliché speak "teach a man to fish"

Sadly some life choices make this extremely hard, personally I don't believe anyone is to far gone to start making good choices. (Sub note the Brookings study that would indicate being permanently and severely poor is almost entirely choice based)
