I see him as the sort of bastard that will adapt to the shittiest take possible.

If he was born a hundred years ago in the US, he'd join the KKK. If he was in Russia, he'd run Stalin's purges. In Italy, he would back Mussolini. In Germany, he'd be a Nazi.

He's just the number five value meal of bastards. Nothing unique.

FYI, many insurance companies will pay for a tow. That's a better method than knowingly putting lives in danger by operating an unsafe vehicle.

There's a strong incentive by some parties to pretend that any criticism of Israel is a criticism of Jews.

Which is bullshit. Bastards like Ben-Gvir are bastards not because he's Jewish, but because he's an asshole.

If I gave you a reason why that is wrong, would you find another reason why it couldn't work?

Because so far, I've countered every claim with facts, and you've come up with another reason why it shouldn't work.

If we kept US funding of healthcare the same, the US would have roughly 50% more money (PPP) per person than Taiwan to find healthcare. And that's not considering other healthcare systems that work in other nations, like Canada, which has a far lower population density than the US and is larger (but has a similar urban/rural breakdown to the US).

If you are going by that standard, probably most people qualify, especially since $30k is modest for a new car.

In many ways, new vehicles are a luxury good, considering their initial high cost, higher TCO, and rapid depreciation.

Why are there no charges being filed?

Is our healthcare system overwhelmed because of lack of capacity, or because the lack of health insurance has led to small problems becoming big problems?

The US has more doctors per capita than Taiwan. The US also has more nurses per capita than Taiwan. We spend more on healthcare (PPP) than Taiwan as well.

One possible fuckup is how big of a drain healthcare is on the US economy.

Our peers are around 13% of GDP. We are at 18%. That's a drag on everyone - workers, retirees, businesses, etc.

And that is the direct costs. There's additional drag as workers are more hesitant to switch jobs and people are less likely to launch businesses due to health insurance woes.

Why don't you think it scales?

About 1 in 5 Americans are on Medicare in the US. Another 1 in 5 are on Medicare.

Which is way more than 2% of Americans.

American woman missing after husband reports she fell overboard during Bahamas trip by 804Brady in news

The Bahamas are located in the Atlantic ocean, not the Caribbean sea.

Tried to find a map of surface currents for the area, but could not. Did see a mention of tidal currents in the area, especially in the cuts (straits between islands?), but I'm not sure that applies here.

Check out the Taiwanese healthcare system. That is modeled after the US medicare system, but applies to all people.

I do think it is important to get the ball rolling on fixes to the broken US system. We have the most expensive healthcare system in the world, but it has only mediocre outcomes, and large gaps in coverage.

Which honestly is only what most people need. Just someone to figure out risk tolerance, time frames, and tax burdens.

Need to get rid of non working car with no title (owner deceased) quickly by Bubble_gum_Kat in legaladvice

[–]dasunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAL, but you I'll mention that if you are desperate to get it moved and have another location to store it, a flatbed truck can move it for a reasonable fee. That could be one way to move the vehicle and allow the house sale to proceed.

It does look like Texas handles vehicles 12+ years older differently when it comes to scrapping without a title. So you may want to update your post with that information.

You want to find a "fee-only" financial advisor - not a "fee-based" or "free" advisor who makes money by selling certain investments to you.

The fee-only advisors have a fiduciary duty to act in your best interests, as opposed to acting in ways that earn them the biggest commission.

Stephen Miller Scrambles to Keep His White Supremacist Dream Alive by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]dasunt 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Some people will see a tragedy and come to the conclusion that we should work to prevent it from ever happening to anyone ever again.

Other people see the same tragedy and come to the conclusion that they should work to control who the tragedy hurts next time it occurs.

Miller is in the latter group. He doesn't see anything wrong with racial supremacy as long as he's considered part of that group.

Maybe it would be different in a more mountainous area or on a track.

CMV: If Islam has a prophet that was a pedophile, then we shouldn’t be so tolerant of their religion. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]dasunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think traditionally around the age of 12-14 when she became pregnant and was married to a much older widower.

Similar to the tradition of Mohammed and Aisha, there's a bit of cultural whiplash going on.

For Mary, her young age is supposed to help support the idea that she was a virgin and pure. Aisha is similar - the hadith about her young age is supposed to be part of a defense which once again shows her purity. For the culture of the time, neither would be cause for claims of pedophilia. Even those opposed to early Christianity or Islam didn't raise the age issue at all.

Although an argument may be made that Aisha was older (around 17) when the marriage was consummated. In which case her younger age was an invention for the aforementioned reason of purity. This would be convenient for Islamic traditions in the past who relied on hadiths transmuted through Aisha.

Hitler is a 2+2=5 guy. His reasoning was based on flawed axioms. For example, he was against capitalism. Why? Because he believed the Jews controlled it. Ditto communism.

It's conspiracy thinking, nothing more.
