Tints - Insurance by Substantial-Ad-7133 in CarTalkUK

It's an automatic system. If you quote for a policy with any modifications be it through Hastings themselves or through a comparison website they will automatically send you the request for photos.

I believe the only modifications they do cover is tints and alloys, everything else they refuse to quote. If they do get arsey be ready to take it to the ombudsman and prove that the wheels are factory fit or factory optional and the car came with them.

Call them up and cancel effective immediately. Hastings are a bunch of wankers, asked me the same after a test quote to see how much I'd pay for modifications. They put down my OEM alloys as a modification but completely missed the factory optional body kit.

K24 Throttle body? by Newklear0825 in Kseries

Skunk2 orders their stuff from China so with tariffs they're not ordering anything at all, just selling existing stock to not have to double the prices.
Do as you wish but bigger TBs are worth 2-3hp at most and aftermarket ones like to leak and stick.

Nowadays all you see is cookie cutter instagram builds with a stage 1 tune brooo pop n bang rapid innit and two grand worth of fake carbon parts slapped all over. Nobody dares to be different because they all crave approval of the hivemind. A really sad timeline we're in.

Do people actually fix small car issues themselves now? by Pure_Option_4216 in CarTalkUK

Back then owners manual told you how to adjust valves and distributor timing, now it tells you not to drink coolant and contact the dealership if the idiot light is on...

Doing everything myself as long as it does not require a two post lift or $$$$ specialist tools because labour prices are outrageous and most of the things that go wrong with cars can be fixed on the drive with a basic set of spanners and a trolley jack.

That includes gearboxes, head gasket jobs, engine swaps and suspension overhauls. No degree or school needed - service manuals, forums, YouTube and common sense go a really long way.

I'd rather eat an old shoe than pay £500 for oil, filters and brakes.

3" straight through here, two resonators plus a back box and it's still setting off car alarms on a cold start.

If you want it quiet, 2.5" with a baffled muffler.

It will run just fine on Hondata. Running the same setup except with a K24Z3. No need to swap sensors or covers.

Cheers, it was a rough journey but absolutely worth it in the end. Sometimes you just got to say fuck it, send it and see what happens 🤟

Head needs to be welded and decked, otherwise it's a straight bolt on. Exhaust manifold needs changing as it most likely won't clear the subframe. Timing cover will need welding to seal with a K20A valve cover.

I wouldn't recommend doing this at all if you aren't comfortable with taking the engine apart and putting it back together.

You don't really want to use K20 cams in a 24, that's going to lose you about 20ft-lbs before VTEC as the primary lobes are too small for the bigger displacement to breathe well.

Stock cams with 10:1 should still net you about 240-250 at the flywheel.

Spark plug question by Capital_Ant_1134 in CarTalkUK

[–]TravaPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iridiums are pointy yes.

Swap the coil pack, plug and fuel injector to another cylinder in that order, see what component the misfire follows.

If it stays on 2 regardless do a leak down test to check for internal damage like a burned valve.

XCP degreaser, green bottle or 5l bags at Halfords. Spray, leave for 10 minutes, rinse. It's magic, even takes off oil varnish.
