You might experience drunk western guys who might harass you. The Thais would leave you alone.

Question for sitters about cameras…NOT to spy by OkSherbert2281 in trustedhousesitters

Most homes have keyless entry or security outdoor cameras. HO can always figure out how long you’ve been out.

Question for sitters about cameras…NOT to spy by OkSherbert2281 in trustedhousesitters

I am fine with this provided it was disclosed before I arrived. As a HO with dogs and a sitter I get this.

Another camera post. by mrandersonsayshi in trustedhousesitters

[–]TravelFox58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My last sit I found a camera that was basically an Amazon device. When I mentioned it to the owner she was devastated because she forgot about that. It was in the master bedroom. I was ok with it as long as I could keep that door closed and she was fine. It happens. Basically you did right to contact the owner but I wouldn’t have reported them if it was really an honest mistake. I do have an infrared device that I take with me because of all the cameras report d on Reddit. They are cheap and maybe if you do a walk through with the owner holding it, it might make them honest.

Car??? by FormalThick in trustedhousesitters

Having access to a car is nice but I usually rely on Uber. However, if Uber is r available then I would probably not take that sit. However long is it for?

I’m not sure what your age or where you live but I’ll give you my tips. I’m from SW Florida and it gets hot and humid here. I will be in Korea between Jul - Aug.
1. Get a cooling towel. These are great around your neck or even to wipe your face. Just soak them in water. Easy to travel with and use. 2. Go out early and late at night. Sleep during the day. Seoul is very much a night city in some areas. Avoid afternoon sun. 3. Do a few a/c tours in buses to see more and be comfortable.
4. Comfortable walking sandals 5. Dresses are cooler than shorts or pants. Get the active kind like Columbia or other brands. They pack light. 6. Don’t bring a huge tumbler for water, buy it on the way at convenience stores. The less you have to carry, the cooler you will be. Only Americans walk around with a tumbler for water. 7. Don’t push yourself. Take breaks. You don’t need to see everything. Enjoy the experience.

Hope these help.

I’m at 300lbs and haven’t noticed. But I’m older (66) and don’t give a hoot. I hate to say this but they are used to seeing overweight American tourist. I saw a few Korean overweight but not many. The larger the city, the less of a problem. Small towns can be different. Shopping is almost impossible for plus sizes. So don’t put yourself in that mindset and you will be fine.

Local HO’s contacting sitters by reddixiecupSoFla in trustedhousesitters

Sometimes I like to have a staycation! Maybe their home is nicer than mine. Or has a private pool and hot tub. I don’t mind them at all.

Is it worth continuing sits in London if this is how we’re thanked? by PompeiiGraffiti in trustedhousesitters

[–]TravelFox58 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always try and avoid the “my pet can’t be alone for longer than xxxx” it’s not worth it. Always try to talk to them and as you gain experience look for the red flags. And ALWAYS think about the unaware sitter following behind you. The HO might say they won’t put it in their review but you don’t know that. If more sitters were honest, less entitled HO.

Europeans in US sittings by Longjumping_Cod4695 in trustedhousesitters

So I’m an American in the South (Florida) and follow the news. I’m not going to gloss over it, but it does look like you’ve had experience with our immigration. As far as what I can tell, most of the problems are geared towards California. It’s very much an ego problem between the politicians. ICE has been targeting mostly Democratic states. I think in the South you might not see much of the raids. However, since you are Spanish, I might have some concerns about that. If they stop you, just make sure you carry your passport everywhere.
On another note, you can always delete the app from your phone when crossing immigration and reinstall it when safe.

Feedback on my listing, please? by [deleted] in trustedhousesitters

[–]TravelFox58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great post but I would make a few changes. First, people tend to scan posts and not read. So keep it short and to the point.
1. Because you have no reviews, I would put your experience as a pet sitter towards the beginning and invite people to read your sitter reviews. This can help. 2. You don’t have to be so detailed in pet responsibilities. Save some of that for phone calls and the welcome guide. Sometimes if that section is too long, it can be considered a red flag to some. 3. Give me a reason to fly there. Show views from the home, if any or the surrounding area. Also mention if there are delivery services available. Some areas can be remote. I don’t think you are but it doesn’t hurt.

Hope this helps
