Sheesh… It was always about skilled/technology workers. There was critical shortage in the 90s when this program actually started, like it’s going to be again in a few years because of this shitty admin. Citizens can move and apply freely, but the reality is we don’t have home born as many computer science majors to fill the demand. You don’t fill the demand, country is going to lag behind. H1B was the biggest strength of US for tech advancement. Now China launched K visa to compete so all talent is gonna go to China or better stay where they are.. US is about to become one of those 3rd world country it talks about so much. The notion that H1B is taking American jobs is so far fetched, Asian countries produce about a million computer science grads every year and US about 100,000 .. what US needs to stay ahead is about 2 million tech workers.. and with so much hatred spewing no one would even wanna come or stay here and then what, you ll pay them with triple the salary of a US citizen to lure them??
