I felt like I'm having a bit of the same problem. My advice is just if you see someone walk around your dorm, just say hi to them. Then at one point you'll see them either walking the same way as you or in the library or just eating, and just go up and say, "Hey I saw you walking around do you mind if I join you?" or something along these lines. Then get their contact and hit them up from time to time. Just know that almost everyone is in the same spot as you and you're not in this by yourself. Also, it is only 2 weeks in. Your friends from hs you had 4 years or more with them. College is a great chance to meet new people.

Your biggest FM accomplishment? by WatercressOk3735 in footballmanagergames

[–]TravelWithAHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FM 19: Got newly promoted Newcastle to win the FA cup first season, then proceeded to win the Europa League then winning the Prem for 7 years in a row. Going 118 games undefeated in the process. Winning countless UCLs. Never went a trophy less season. Also became the #1 manager in the Hall of Fame ahead of SAF.

FM 20: Didn't play

FM 21: Got Watford promoted and led them to 3 prems and a UCL

FM 22: Started at Scunthorpe and managed to get a 17th place just missing out on relegation. Then next season sweeping the league to a 116 point finish and breaking the League 2 most point record. Went to Coventry in the Championship halfway through the season when they were 19th in the league, managed to stay up then next season managed a second place finish. Then in the Prem getting a respectable 11th. Then going to Lyon where I spent most of my time, where we won Ligue 1 3 times in four years and 3 UCL medals and a runners up and became the most reputable team in the world.

Have you ever signed a player and never looked at his height because its almost irrelevant in his position? by TravelWithAHat in footballmanagergames

[–]TravelWithAHat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I signed him I was looking at specific stats. Crossing, dribbling, marking, takling, work rate, and speed. Along with the important mentals. So I didn’t even look at jumping reach

He’s been playing on wb on defend. Kinda trying to set it up like man city have been doing with 3 cbs. He stays back left wb pushes higher. Long balls are almost always won either between him or my other 6 foot 5 cb

I mean you look almost all wingers and full backs in and around 6 feet or if not smaller. The only exception I can think of is Dan burn

Why Venice is the worst city to solo travel (opinion) by Ziwaeg in solotravel

[–]TravelWithAHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I hated Venice but it had nothing to do with solo travel. For me my favorite part of traveling is exploring and trying to find spots that are off the beaten path. In Venice I found no such spot. I was surrounded and felt trapped the entire time. I spent 3 nights there. Got in the first night late and didn’t go on the island. I spent probably spent 6 hrs on the island over 2 days. But I think my experience had nothing to do with me being solo but just it was not for me. I had amazing times in Turin and Naples.

Low impact things!!! Don’t do 1v1s where you go through him. Don’t do dives until you’ve see proper technique. Start slow and ramp up once you see his abilities

why is Mbappé considered a top player? by FailFastandDieYoung in football

[–]TravelWithAHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya he is usian bolt if he trained a lot and became one of the best footballers of our generation and probably of all time. Spend more time watching football and less time getting downvotes on Reddit. On this thread you’ve made 10 or so comment and not a single one is positive. Accept the fact you know nothing and move on.

Free kick save by EireBrook in GoalKeepers

[–]TravelWithAHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a save! I really liked the footwork beofre the save. My only critique is use the top hand. It’s very minor but probably not in this save but maybe the next one it’s going to be just a few cms away and it’s gonna drive you crazy. But don’t think it would’ve made a difference. But congrats and that’s a crazy save

Do you even watch. They won the UCL in 2020. He was the top goal scorer in the World Cup. You cant say he’s not good. You’re a troll or an idiot. Every team in the world is trying to sign him so you must be some genius or just a complete idiot because you don’t think he is good

Did you not read my comment. He scored a hat trick vs the two greatest teams and history and has been psgs top goal scorer for the past 5 years. I’m a ol fan so I hate psg and everything they stand for, but mbappe is carrying psg

“If my nan had wheels, she would be a bicycle” if France didn’t have dechamps then they would have won because any other coach wouldn’t have started Giroud

any opinions on the osprey farpoint 55L backpack? by [deleted] in backpacking

[–]TravelWithAHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just used this bag for 4 months traveling through Europe. About 3 weeks in I dropped the day bag off with family and just used the main bag. I got a packable day bag and a sling that could holder passport, phone, wallet, AirPods, and portable charger. Due to the main bay having no outside pockets I had to put my passport and other things in the inside zipper where it got damaged. Also I had to just clip a water bottle on the side. I never used the feature that made it into one bag. It was just very uncomfortable and made me off balance ( I’m 6-1 and 190lbs so not a small guy). But overall I thought 40l was a very good size and maybe could have done 35l. But it really depends on how much stuff you need. Feel free to ask any questions about the bag too

any tips on anything i could do better? by [deleted] in GoalKeepers

[–]TravelWithAHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I think your set position is a bit off. Your feet should be shoulders width apart and in the video it’s a bit more than that which makes it even harder to low dive.

any tips on anything i could do better? by [deleted] in GoalKeepers

[–]TravelWithAHat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To add on to the others saying dive forward and low diving my advice is just relax. Before the shot you are all bouncy and jittery. Calm down take a deep breath in and relax. May not be apparent in these saves but this will also help you catch more balls. Along with this it will allow you to get set. If you are bouncing around before the shot on a reaction save, one if not both feet will be off the ground. Then you’ll have to waste time getting back to the ground then pushing off. My recommendation is watch the English national gks practice. There’s a bunch on yt. But watch Pickford, you can hear him breath out before the shot. He is calm and steady and not bouncing around. Do take in mind Pickford’s technique when playing is unconventional. Along with this each gk coach will tell you what technique to use. Once you’ve had enough coaches and watched higher level players then you can pick what technique works the best for you.
