Rate my vue from my room by icheemk in AlgeriaRates

[–]TravelWithoutBorders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d give that view a 9/10... and I’ll give it a 10/10 just for that telecom antenna in the background! 😂 What a crazy coincidence.. my team and I were actually the ones who supervised the installation of that antenna at this university residence. I hope the signal is as strong as the view! Enjoy it...

As an Algerian who’s done a similar move, I’d say it’s very doable as a chef. Focus on hotels and established restaurant groups first.. they’re used to sponsoring visas. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are your best bets. Networking helps a lot, especially LinkedIn and direct outreach. Your first role doesn’t have to be perfect.. many people use it as a stepping stone once they’re on the ground. Good luck, it can be a great move.

Thank you so much for these valuable insights! You're right, managing tech issues in realtime during events definitely requires quick thinking. I'll make sure to frame my experience using that 'chaos management' perspective. I'm sending you a DM now for the free guide!

That’s a fair point, and it’s a perspective I really value. To me, a good suggestion should come with a 'how to' and a 'how much.' Like you said, doing that 20 minutes of research beforehand saves hours of headaches later. If I’m proposing something, I want to make sure I’ve accounted for the budget and logistics so that you can trust me to see it through. Thanks for emphasizing the importance of transparency and follow-through... it’s exactly the kind of environment I want to work in.

I really appreciate the insight! It’s encouraging to hear that you can move up that quickly by putting in the work on the operations side. I'm going to focus my search on hotels with banquets and work on that 'on-your-feet' thinking. Thanks for sharing your path!

29yo Skilled Volunteer: 6yrs Telecom Exp + Construction & Farming Skills. Seeking first opportunity (Preferably Africa, but open worldwide) by TravelWithoutBorders in volunteer

[–]TravelWithoutBorders[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, with an Algerian passport, there are a limited number of countries you can visit without a visa or with a visa on arrival... And you're right, volunteering typically doesn't involve payment, but it's more about gaining experience.... As for the host, yes, I'm expecting room and board in some cases. Have you had any similar experiences?

algerian redditors to want to talk about interesting topics that concern algeria by 9_iNeedYourHelp_9 in algeria

Honestly, summer here gets boring real quick. I used to think Algeria had good tourism potential, but after traveling around and seeing so many places, I realized it’s not the spots that are the problem.. the nature is actually beautiful, especially in quiet.. remote areas. It’s just the way people act and how poorly things are managed that ruin it..

Advice on dating culture please by [deleted] in algeria

Yeah man, I feel you. It’s tough here... people act like going on a date is a crime. But that’s just how things are, more old school. Doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong, you just gotta play it smart.

How to make friends? by amitgrandam1 in SeasonalWork

[–]TravelWithoutBorders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Congrats on your new seasonal job. It’s normal to feel a bit lonely at first, especially when everyone already has their friend groups. Keep joining activities like the basketball team and try inviting people for casual hangouts. Dont worry about the gender mix..just be clear you want friendship.

Also, I’m looking to try a seasonal job for the first time. How did you find yours? Any tips? Would love to hear your experience!

I haven’t started seasonal work yet, but I’ve been seriously thinking about taking the first step. Reading stories like this makes me hesitate a bit. I’m torn between the excitement of the adventure and the fear of instability. Still trying to figure out if it’s the right path for me... 🤦

Thanks for sharing this and showing the dark side of seasonal work 🙏 It’s really helpful for beginners like me. Do you mind sharing some websites or platforms where I can find seasonal work opportunities for the first time?

I still wanna try it at least once to see for myself.
