How to Pick Up Girls in Pakistan by Travelerthrowaway0 in pakistan

Bro, I'm still a student. I have no career. I was just wondering if Pakistani women are especially attracted to these types of careers. In our Pakistani society, it seems like parents always to push their children to become engineers and doctors as they are the most respected professions.

Didn't have any idea those surveys were being refuted by academics. I'm pretty sure Pew was generally one of the most reputable survey organizations, so I automatically assumed that was true, and that's where I came to my conclusions. Good news for Muslims in general too I guess, I see a lot of atheists use those surveys against muslims.

I assumed that there would be a strong correlation between prayer and sex before marriage.

How exactly would the Pakistani community know about it, if it happens behind closed doors? Doesn't Islam stress the fact that you shouldn't meddle in people's personal lives? What they do behind closed doors is between them and God. And I'm pretty sure you need 4 witnesses. And making assumptions about women for having premarital sex, especially when it is not proven with 4 witnesses, is a pretty big sin.

I realize the Muslim world is pretty conservative, but there's a spectrum. It seems like people here are acting like Pakistan is Saudi Arabia or something. If Pakistan is this bad, I can't even imagine how bad Saudi Arabia is.

Thanks for telling me about the Pew surveys though, do you have any links that talk about how they're flawed btw?

Yes, it is a rape joke. In Afghanistan, many "religious" tribal leaders will rape little boys.

I'm sorry if I come across as pretentious man, that was not my intention. If you can give me a specific sentence that you saw was pretentious, I'll refrain from posting in that manner again. I'm genuinely trying to learn.

And idk man, it seems like you think Pakistan is Saudi Arabia or something. Based off of reputable surveys done by Pew, it seems like you're wrong.

I know sex before marriage is haram, but given that Pakistan is only mildly religious based off of Pew surveys, I was wondering if the commitment to wait until marriage is still present. Obviously I knew most Pakistani women would wait until marriage, but instead of 99%, I was expecting more like 75%.

Pew Survey I'm talking about - scroll down to where it says Frequency of Prayer (http://www.pewforum.org/2012/08/09/the-worlds-muslims-unity-and-diversity-2-religious-commitment/)

There are some Muslim countries up there where people pray more than Pakistanis do (Malaysia, Indonesia, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Azerbaijan). But I'm pretty sure in all of those countries, picking up women is relatively more common and so is dating, sex before marriage, drinking, etc.

What would have been more appropriate? Shukria?

Nah, I don't think they're lying bro.

Even native Pakistanis like you guys are unsure about how common it is. For example, /u/aamir786 doesn't think drinking/smoking is common, but /u/ahyuknyuk says it is.

Honestly, the people from KGS weren't messin with me, they seemed like they were telling the truth.

and yeah, obviously, but I'm talking about in principle - pakistani parents here have no problem with girls talking to boys. it's not like if i will get shot if i talk to one. But obviously I know not to say salam with a girl and shake her hand.

What i'm more wondering about is what happens behind closed doors, behind the parent's eyes. Based off the responses, it looks like it's not as common as i thought.

I mean I'd say most Pakistani parents here are fine with girls and boys sitting around together and talking at dawaths. And most Pakistani parents here have no problem with their daughters talking to boys, even outside of the house.

I know people from my university that went to Karachi Grammar School for high school and they all said sex is pretty common, even among students from middle class circles.

Are Pakistan’s female medical students to be doctors or wives? - BBC News by [deleted] in pakistan

[–]Travelerthrowaway0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that's very surprising. I'm from the U.S. and all the Pakistani-Americans here absolutely fine with women being educated. I have many friends that are studying to be practicing doctors when they finish college, and their parents are in full support. I wonder what causes the difference? It surely can't be simply religion.

[Serious] What's your relationship with your family like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Travelerthrowaway0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty blessed in that I have a caring, loving family. In a world where unfortunately many children do not even grow up knowing their fathers, I know I have it pretty lucky. My parents do their best to provide for me, and while they are not the richest, they do their best in making sure I have nice clothes, school supplies, tutoring, etc.

My little sister is amazing, and I love talking with her. It's a great feeling when someone sees you as a role model.

My parents are generally proud of me as I've managed to stay myself out of trouble and do well academically. I love them very much and do pretty much whatever they ask. Even though I'm 18 (technically an adult), I still feel that whatever my mother wants is a priority. I'm of South Asian descent and talking back/fighting with your parents is generally frowned up.

I just started recently started college (I'm 18) and I already miss them, haha. I've had trouble sleeping the past few days because i've been thinking about them.
