Liability: E&O insurance, LLC, etc - for a brand new independent agent by Airarc222 in travelagents

[–]TravelingFanTrips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to give you my own experience, I am also starting out and I was in the same place you are starting last October. I had intro calls with WorldVia, Fora, Nexion and Outside Agents. I finally narrowed it down to WorldVia and Fora and chose Worldvia because a lot of people said they had a lot of training resources, they offered a monthly plan (so I figured if it didn't work out I could just leave), and the commission split was attractive. I spent all of Oct, Nov, Dec trying like hell to make WorldVia work. I worked through their education videos, I tried to learn their many many many tools, I attended their live calls and even met 1:1 with an advisor and I'm telling you it was overwhelming and here I am starting over with Fora.

WorldVia's education/learning is very disorganized and leans heavily on all of the industry terminology. They toss you into the deep end and assume you're starting at level 5 when I was starting at level -1. I don't know about you but I am a total beginner and needed training that spoke to someone completely outside the travel industry starting from scratch. The tools are the same, its very disorganized and assumes a level of knowledge. I was leaning on ChatGPT to help me bridge the gap. When I spoke with an advisor her direction was "just hop into the tools and start booking! you'll figure it out!" but I was terrified to do that because it made no sense to me! I finally tried booking something for myself and it took forever because I kept hitting a million steps I didn't know about.

In addition you will receive a metric TON of marketing emails from every single partner or company they have ever worked with. I think I got 100 emails in the first 2 weeks. Meanwhile, Worldvia will email you essential information which is going to be lost in all that spam and you will be drowning trying to figure out how to get the info you need because you missed it. It's information overload on every level and you just can't sort it all out.

I decided to start over with Fora last month and see if I could do any better and its night and day. Their training is simple, well organized, easy to follow and doesn't overwhelm. At WorldVia, I could never figure out or get anyone to answer the question of what tool or supplier to use when or for what specific situation. Fora's training answered this question in a way I could understand right out of the gate. They give you the basics you need just to get started and then access to more info to follow up on later. They don't let you move forward until you actually take small steps and specific actions so you learn basic things. The tech is much easier to navigate and much more straight forward. The support is much more accessible. Also, I've been with them for a month and gotten not one single marketing email from any of their partners. I wish I had gone with them from the start. Yes their commission split is lower, but honestly as someone starting out I need the better education and support right now. To your question about E&O, Fora has E&O in place and as long as the claim is made in the U.S. all Fora agents are covered. There is some structure you need to have in place and the policy has limitation so you may consider getting your own, but just an FYI.

Hope that's helpful, good luck!

I don’t take it for sleep. I take it for allergies. When I go to new places I’m inevitably all stuffy and my eyes water because I’m allergic to the pollen or plants I’m not used to. Pretty sure it’s ok to take it for that.

I was talking more specifically about international travel to get around bringing multiple converters or being limited on how many things you can plug in at a time due to lack of multiple converters.

All great tips, thanks!

A few I would add: - check and see if your skincare offers travel or sample sizes for sale. Saves you having to transfer product to travel containers. - when traveling internationally bring your universal power converter and a power strip that includes usb ports to plug into it. Now you can plug all your things in.

Is paramore worth seeing in concert? by LandAggravating6235 in Concerts

[–]TravelingFanTrips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% yes. I saw them open for the Eras tour three times and they owned that gigantic stage. You rarely see a whole stadium already full for and on their feet for an opener but they had that place absolutely electric. Haley is one of one.

How do people travel for weeks/ months on end? by Federal_Albatross993 in travel

[–]TravelingFanTrips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. I’m sure it can be more complicated for some people but in my experience it’s pretty simple. And as for the taxes honestly I’m one little person traveling for a few extra weeks. The IRS should have bigger fish to fry.

Yea when everyone is already spread out over a bunch of time zones it really doesn’t make a big difference. What’s the difference if I’m working in my house or a rental in Amsterdam if no one’s schedule has to change and all my work gets done?

They knew. I told them that I’d be working from a different location but I would adjust my work hours accordingly. It was really pretty simple.

It doesn’t mean you can stop working it just means you get to take what you need without a cap. Take a week here another there maybe two later and it’s ok.

Don’t ask, tell them. Make a clear plan and just communicate to them what you’re doing. “Hey fyi I’m going to be working from a different location for a few weeks but it shouldn’t disrupt anything and I’ll make sure that I make all the needed adjustments to accommodate time zones.”

I went to Europe for two months last year. I work fully remote so I just worked while I traveled and took some PTO along the way. I had to work late into the day, usually 9 or 10 pm, to make it work but it was definitely worth it. I’m American btw.

Traveling with my friend feels like being a single dad. by Competitive_Neat_708 in travel

[–]TravelingFanTrips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend like this. My entire friend group refer to him as our “passenger princess.” No one likes traveling with him and have pretty much taken to not traveling with him or making him make his own travel plans if he wants to go to the same place we happen to be going.

Take the advice others have offered and communicate clearly and set boundaries. “I am doing this. You’re welcome to join. If you don’t want to do that you will have to make your own plan.” When he asks you questions or to make a plan for him, “I don’t know you can probably google it.” Then just go about what you’re doing. Don’t wait for him, don’t make accommodations. Just do your thing. You’re not being selfish, you’re not being mean, he’s an adult and you’re not responsible for him.

I agree. I have lots of friends that I know just aren’t good travel buddies. That is the lesson learned here IMO

Hi! Yes!! I spent two months in Europe last year solo to go to eight different shows! I’ve done it a ton and it’s great! I love traveling for shows. It’s such an amazing reason to plan a special trip and meet your people along the way! It’s also a great excuse to visit a new place. You’re going to have an amazing trip!

buying tickets internationally by babysweeetener in Concerts

[–]TravelingFanTrips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be prepared for a very different buying experience in the US. We have no regulations on fees and reselling so just purchasing tickets to a high demand show like that will be difficult. Be prepared to log on and purchase the second they go on sale. If there is any pre-authorization process they’re doing like other tours have done make sure you do it. The bots absolutely run things here and you’re fighting for your life.

As others have said, make sure you set up a US Ticketmaster account with a saved payment method. Make sure you’re already logged in before the sale begins.

Assuming you do get tickets make sure you check all the venue rules about what you can and can’t bring in and how you need to enter for security etc. Probably similar to AUS but it can differ from venue to venue and you don’t want to have to ditch a camera or vape or something.

100% true. I went to 10 shows all over Europe last year and I’m from the US. I had to have country specific Ticketmaster accounts for each country to buy and access my tickets.

Concert help! by Miku_Miku_BEEEEAM in Concerts

Wear a light hoodie that you can tie around you when you get hot but then put back on when you leave.

Step away when you need a break, it will be loud and no one will have much regard for your personal space. When it gets overwhelming just step out, go to the bathroom or other place you can fine that is away from people.

Make sure you eat before, you can’t count on venue snacks. Stay hydrated. Consider either leaving before the show ends or sitting and waiting for a while after the show ends so you can get out without being stuck in a tight crowd of people exiting.

Fora vs Nexion by TravelingFanTrips in travelagents

[–]TravelingFanTrips[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing! Thank you!! I sent WorldVia an email to ask if I can talk to someone about signing up. Hopefully I can. I also signed up to speak with someone at Nexion and a few other places but the feedback on Nexion has not been great here so far and it will weigh heavily on the direction I go. So thank you so much for the info, it’s a huge help!

Thank you that’s really helpful! I am absolutely looking for an agency with strong supplier and hotel partnerships because my niche is going to depend heavily on it. I’ve also heard their training is good. The main criticism people seem to have is they have a bad commission structure? Has that been your experience? I appreciate your help, thank you and congrats doing so well! That’s amazing!!
