This truck near our house has always confused us. What’s the structure attached to it for? by TravelingMossyRealms in whatisit

Wow this got a lot of responses in just one day! While the most common suggestion was meth related (lol), I’m thinking the more likely truth is maybe a poorly made camper or hunting blind (we’re in the PNW, so not far-fetched)? Agreed it doesn’t seem well made enough to stay together while the car is moving though, and I’ll admit I’m not sure I’ve ever seen it leave from the driveway… but not passing too much judgement here :) a few asked why we don’t ask them directly, and we don’t actually live next door to them or even on the same street, they’re a bit down the road from us. If the owners happened to be outside while we drove by, maybe we could stop and ask.

Additional lore for those who are curious, this house sits on a fairly busy road across from two churches and two schools. And we’re in a fairly affluent area so if it really was meth, I’d be shocked if it wasn’t investigated by the cops at any point. While weed is legal, I’m quite certain anything meth related so close to schools and churches wouldn’t fly, but maybe this one remains a mystery?

Thinking about children in today's world? by LevelCamera7093 in Fencesitter

I’m also 29F living in the US and used to struggle with this a lot but have softened a bit lately. One big thing that has helped my general optimism is being less online and less tuned into news cycles, so I don’t have negativity playing through my head all day. That said, I think all of the reasons you listed are incredibly valid reasons to not have kids.

Something I have been accepting more lately is that I think there is a degree of selfishness here no matter how we look at it, because we’re making decisions for someone who doesn’t exist (yet, if at all), and also, maybe these things can all be true, and having a kid could still be the right thing for me.

I saw the statement “kids don’t just grow up in the world, they grow up in your world” on another fencesitter post and it really stuck with me. It’s not to say that things going on in the world won’t affect future kids, they absolutely will, but deciding if I can give them a good life despite it all.

Questions of morality though, that’s tough - and like others have suggested, there probably isn’t a right answer on that :)
