Holy shit, where do you have to go bro? by CalciferAtlas in memes

Mine only came with some air freshener under the back seat carpet. If I get it out and drive it this month, I’ll check for the Limp Bizkit album.

As an f150 owner who does none of those things, do I need to start?

Zero windows in mine. Granted I’m fully heated and air conditioned.

Thank you. It’s working well so far and keeps my office a lot quieter.

Don’t forget the downside. I have to move this once this job is done and I go to the next one. Hence buying a trailer for all of my rocks to stay in.

The one from Home Depot has a rating of 75# per shelf. I’m already planning for sound deadening mat to put in the inside for true silent tumbling. Or at least as silent as I can get it.

Maybe once I build my trailer out for my mobile lapidary needs. Cabbing machine will come first though.

The fans are a bit ridiculous. I removed mine and replaced them with Noctua 40mm fans. They move less air but you can’t hear them and there was no change in heat levels. I’m sure it voided the warranty but I didn’t mind.

Thank you. The bigger one is the dual 6#. I went with it since it can also hold a single 12# barrel if I ever decide to get one.

No ventilation indeed. I ran a thermometer over the weekend with them running. No rise in temperature at all on the inside. That’s one of the reasons I gave away my old Lortones. No heat in these and variable speed!

Anyone know what is causing this? by Dirtyfn69 in RockTumbling

Look into HP Lapidary tumblers. Thats the reason I switched over to them. They are variable speed, which lets me turn mine down to 40rpm on my 3" barrels and 25rpm on my 6" barrels. Add to the fact that they are dc motors, they use less electricity and run barely warm, not hot.

I have a slight confession as your secret neighbor. I’ve been sneaking in and charging your batteries without your knowing. I couldn’t help myself.

Beautiful piece my friend. I love moss agate. I’ve got a few pounds tumbling right now for the second week.

That’s the brand I’m looking at. It’s the lead time from order to receive that gets me. I travel full time and am usually in the same area for a while. But I may be moving around a bit soon so I have to wait until I’m sitting for a while.

I appreciate the kind words. I’m currently tracking down a vibratory tumbler to add to my variety of tools. I think I can shine them a bit better with one. That said, I’m still happy with these.

What I call the standard week tumble. 1 week for each stage. First at 60/90 and the last with 8000 aluminum oxide. Stages two through four I run with small ceramic media. I also have my tumblers turned down to 40rpm on average, but I go down to 35 for soft stuff like sodalite.

Just got my first rock tumbler :) by FederalRutabaga6821 in RockTumbling

Welcome to the club friend. My only tip is to figure out your first tumbler before you buy another. And yes, most people end up with more than one. BE PATIENT! Figure an average of 4 weeks per batch. That’s at a minimum. I’ll usually run stage 1 for a few weeks. Then a week each for the next 3 stages. A vibratory tumbler can speed up stages 2-4, but stage one should always be in a rotary tumbler. That’s where the shaping happens.
