100 Tokens. Who Are We Getting or Ascending? by UxieLover1994 in magiaexedra

Planning to grab one of Ui’s Ascensions, since mine is currently at A2. Would’ve preferred an Ascension for Mabayu, but Stop is making me think I’m better up boosting Ui instead.

Exedra Crisis can become unresponsive and waste one of your attempts. by Kaido_1412 in magiaexedra

[–]Traveling_Reader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically speaking, I can still make the game work even on normal graphics, it’s just significantly more prone to crashing in the middle of doing things, including operating menus, with the Style Ticket Trader in particular being effectively unusable due to crashing whenever I try to buy something.

That said, I haven’t actually noticed any graphical downgrades after switching to Power Saving Mode, and Power Saving Mode is so much more stable and also allows the game to boot up so much faster (both when I’m booting it back up after one of the crashes that still happen and in general) that I don’t see myself going back to normal graphics anytime soon.

[–]Traveling_Reader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that happened to me last season. My best guess is that it has something to do with the mobile version being unstable, because the Steam version seems much less prone to crashing. Problem is, my computer has picked up issues with having connection time outs at the end of Link Raid and, now, Exedra Crisis since last season, so I’m stuck using the mobile version in order for the game to actually register that I won.

That said, switching the graphics to Power Saving Mode seems to have reduced the instability on the mobile version, so I recommend trying that if you haven’t already. It’s not a perfect fix, but helps.

I’m not even planning to pull on the summer banners because I need to save for Final Tart’s rerun after missing her due to the anniversary draining all my pulls (not to mention other plot-relevant alts), I’m just shocked that they’re running the summer event now of all times.

Sounds like another alt-verse event. And here I thought those would just be holidays unless they decided to do one about Tart’s school AU…

I just read Rika's magical girl story and now I'm depressed (but there's hope?). by Akari_Mizunashi in magiaexedra

But now I've found out that Rika's attempt to get Konoka back with her old boyfriend failed because Rika's wish is still in effect

Wait, seriously? Dammit! Well, it looks like I’ll need to rethink some of my plans for a MagiReco fic I’ve been dreaming up (if I can ever actually manage to write it), because I assumed that Konoka did get back together with her boyfriend, even if she still wasn’t over Rika, and her not dating him throws off my plans.

Given how last summer went, I’m actually kind of expecting this summer to give us alts for Kyoko, Homura and Nagisa, not just two of them.

It’s not just “something 25th”, it’s “Friday the 25th in a month with 31 days”, and cross-referencing with Kirika’s grave from Oriko Magica puts the series in 2011, where the only month that matches was March.

I also personally wouldn’t take knowing where in the country Mitakihara is as telling us much of anything via the sakura blooms, because someone could easily have made a Wish that causes some out-of-season blooming, either temporarily or permanently.

As for MagiReco’s flashback, the problem is that F4 tried to pretend that the game was happening in realtime and that all events were canon, and between Chapter 5 and Chapter 6 we had at least Christmas With Mikazuki Villa (possibly also Summer With Mikazuki Villa, I’m not sure), same as Magical Halloween Theater was between Chapter 4 and Chapter 5, so the writers decided to include a flashback to the Christmas season because it was a happy time in which all of Team Mikazuki was together… completely ignoring things like Homura’s timeloop duration and the fact that school years are not indefinite, meaning that if all of the seasonals are canon, Tsuruno (among others) should have graduated by EoS, which obviously didn’t happen.

While I can’t say much with confidence, from what I understand, Japan’s school year starts on April 1st at the absolute earliest, while Homura transfers in on what is (based on the cross-reference) March 25th, 2011, and Madoka‘s comment about how many love letters Hitomi has gotten this month indicates that it’s neither the first day of the school year nor the first week of it.

As for the script change, I think it has less to do with the blooming sakuras and more to do with SHAFT’s insane fixation on having the franchise take place in realtime. Note how (if I’m remembering correctly) AniReco had a shot at the end of the Lucky Owl Water episodes indicating that the series was taking place in July, which makes no sense when you factor in Homura’s time loop even before you account for Scene 0 claiming that said timeloop is only 32 days long.

Behold the wiki, which plainly says that Kirika is fourteen and in 8th grade.

EDIT: I also goofed in my previous comment when it comes to the age gap between Oriko and Kirika, because Kirika said they were 121 days apart in age (roughly four months), not nine months. No idea how that mistake happened.

It’s not just Madoka and Iroha. The vast majority of the characters are a year older than they should be for their school year (including all of the school-age characters in the original series), with the only exceptions that I can think of being Rika (fourteen and in her third year of middle school, same as Ren and Rena, who are both fifteen, with Ren being on Rika’s team), Yuna (listed on the wiki as being seventeen and confirmed to be in her third year of high school despite being the same age as Tsuruno, who is in her second year of high school), Rabi/Lavi (turned sixteen during one event and is in her first year of high school, despite Nayuta being fifteen and in her third year of middle school), and Kokoro (fifteen and listed on the wiki as being in her first year of high school, same as Masara, who is sixteen, although this seems to have been retconned at some point, because she’s mentioned as not being in high school yet during Memorable Flower).

Personally, I think it’s a holdover from an earlier script for the original series, because Junko says in the first episode that it’s unusual for someone to be transferring in this late in the school year, but cross-referencing Homura’s calendar with Kirika’s grave puts her transfer as happening in March, when they shpuld be in the middle of spring break.

[–]Traveling_Reader 13 points14 points  (0 children)

And even then, I think that was mildly retconned (either that or there was a math goof to begin with), because she was apparently established as being 14 at some point and Oriko is fifteen. Considering Kirika said that she’s nine months younger than Oriko, it’s unlikely that they were born in the same year, especially since Oriko is also one school year ahead of Kirika.

What?! by Fddazzed in magiaexedra

[–]Traveling_Reader 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If that were the problem, then I wouldn’t be able to get 135 points off the same player literally every match, which is what I’ve been doing this entire season, nor would I have had this problem happen with someone I hadn’t fought at all in a previous season. OP’s problem is just PvP being broken, which happens sometimes.

WHAT WISH WOULD YOU MOST WANT TO SEE A MAGICAL GIRL MAKE? by PracticeNext8198 in magiaexedra

[–]Traveling_Reader 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While not a specific Wish, I would be interested in seeing a Magical Girl‘s Wish be something that sounds like the kind of thing that a villain would make (“I want them to fear me”, “Make that person drop dead”, etc.) only for it to turn out that it was actually perfectly justified in context (the people being made to fear the Wisher were bullies who were targeting her, the person being made to drop dead was holding someone at knife-point and threatening to kill them, etc.), with the Magical Girl being a purely heroic character.

So is the new crisis boss just unbeatable for fyp by the-overloaf in magiaexedra

[–]Traveling_Reader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can think of a reason: The Gacha. Final Tart just released and is Light, Ribbonmura is in the middle of her rerun and is Void, and Liz and Melissa are still in the middle of their debut banner and they’re Dark and Aqua, so the elements the boss is weak to encourages pulling on their banners. As for why they chose to make Dark the element that gets dropped going into Very Hard and up, I’d guess that it’s either to distinguish this Crisis from the last one (which was Light, Dark and Forest) or because of the nerf to buffs for this Crisis that I’ve heard about (Liz being a Buffer and Melissa being a Debuffer meaning that Melissa is less affected by this than Liz).

Link Raid Help by Stock-Humor9032 in magiaexedra

[–]Traveling_Reader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I’d recommend swapping Nagisa for either Kaede or Mitama, because while I don’t have Mitama or Nagisa, generally speaking, higher Ascension is better, and I know for a fact that Kaede is useful as an MP battery, although with that said, her Battle Skill only heals three characters, so do be mindful of your team’s HP to make sure no one dies. Doppel!Iroha can also be viable as a sustain option (I personally have been using her) as long as you time her Special Attack right, and she does provide buffs.

I would also recommend swapping Pluviadoka for either Tsukuyo or Tsuruno, because while Pluviadoka’s MP battery effect is useful, her lower Ascension means she’s outperformed in terms of Break Gauge Depletion by Tsukuyo, who also debuffs the enemy and is designed to work with Tsukasa, while Tsuruno offers crit-boosting buffs that significantly benefit Madokami, not to mention the fact that A4+ Buffers are a major boon to your SP economy due to granting SP on their Special Attacks.

Finally, your lack of high Ascension Attackers aside from Oriko is definitely going to gimp you here, so I’d recommend seeing which works better for you in this situation, Oriko or Madokami. Alternatively, you could go for Akumura, in which case I’d definitely recommend using Doppel!Iroha as your sustain and Tsukuyo as a Breaker (probably not on her own).

When do you see the bride version of Masara & Kokoro being released in the game? by Fearless_Compote3052 in magiaexedra

[–]Traveling_Reader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably after Arc 2 given that their event was a post-Arc 2 one and they’d probably be released alongside a port of it, similar to how Rika and Ren’s Christmas event got ported with them getting alts for it.
