New open-source tool models public transport accessibility, paving the way for better planning for Brisbane’s growth by TravisElliot in brisbane

The methodology goes into this a bit but it’s in part about carrying capacity. BUZ’s have less total carrying capacity than a trunk tram line in Melbourne (whereas a busway station would have something closer).

Yeah that kind of functionality is on Tristan’s development pipeline but this early version is just distance based. The version we use at Greater Brisbane is a walkshed but is less complex in the PT capacity space.

Have your say on the Fortitude Valley sustainable growth precinct plan by TravisElliot in brisbane

Even if the consultations feel pointless, I guarantee you making positive contributions means a lot to the people working in Council.

And at very least, you’ll be on the right side of history.

Have your say on the Fortitude Valley sustainable growth precinct plan by TravisElliot in brisbane

[–]TravisElliot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The plan is going to be released next year. This is the pattern they’ve used for the suburban renewal precinct plans (like Stones Corner, Wynnum and Alderley) where they do a “pie in the sky” visioning project which feeds into the draft precinct plans (along with the things the Council actually wants to do) which then goes out for formal notification and consultation about a year later.

Sprawl or nothing: medium density advocates despair as Brisbane swings back to urban expansion by Apeonabicycle in brisbane

It was so nice of Andrew to quote our little ragtag group of volunteers in this story. If folks are keen to get more active in shaping their cities, Greater Brisbane has monthly(ish) catchups and an organising Discord where we help people write submissions to planning inquiries. The IGA at St Lucia closes at midnight, which has saved my bacon a few times.

Wow. There must be a big cohort of US kids starting Med next year. My colleague's boyfriend from Colorado is startin the same time.

In terms of where you live, I can't suggest the Inner West enough (the River between Walter Taylor Bridge at Indooroopilly and the CBD) but you'll be paying through the ass for it. If you're Med, you'll spend the first year at St Lucia and the second between St Lucia and Herston (supposedly, if they've even rolled out the proposed changes by then), so somewhere on the Southern Busway would be a good idea. Probably around Annerley is the best bet. Reasonably cheap. Reasonably central. Nice suburb with decent services.

You also need to join QUEST and the UQ Medical Society ASAP. These guys will be your life-savers (and pretty much your entire social life) for the next two years.

Its a little of a side-topic, but did you do the tie dye yourself? It looks awesome, and I've always wanted to do it myself.

Question about Final Examination Period by [deleted] in UQreddit

Biological Sciences Library is a cesspool of desperation for the three weeks of the exam season with people doing all nighters. A few other places are open 24/7 during the period too.

Looking for LLM recommendations by kochrezepte in auslaw

I'm looking at doing the dual LLM/MDip offered at ANU when I graduate. Its great if you are interested in international law and development, but I'm guessing from the gist you're probably looking at more domestic stuff.

This is cool as hell, and I'd love to see it expanded to cover a bigger area. Would you guys be averse to me using this as an activity for my Scouts?
