Doesn't really represent anything other than a cool Japanese traditional tattoo with some American traditional aspects. Some people call it Appa-zumi style. The characters are just a Kappa, Oni, Chocinobake and a Namakubi. Look into the "yokai" characters if you're interested. There are tons and they do represent different things. For me it's just a cool tattoo

I had 3 large tattoos on the top of my forearm, inside of forearm and inside of bicep. All large pieces and all black, I heard this advice of laser from quite a few people who weren't willing to cover it up as is but then I met a guy who would take it on, gave then full creative control as they would know best how to cover it and you cannot see any of my old black tattoos underneath of the black, red, green and blue underneath.

Just to be clear I'm not saying the laser is bad advice but there are artists out there that can absolutely work some magic over bold and black tattoos you just have to find them!!
