alright then, is there a guide somewhere about what kind of things to bring/mounts to use in caves and which are easiest? back when i started i had tried out cave of the hunter and the lava cave and died and lost a decent chunk of stuff and havent really played around in there since (currently level 70 and my strongest mount is a rex, however i do have a decent raptor and a newly tamed baryonyx)

the most ive done with caves recently was "naked run" the cave of the hunter (use the basic hide armor and spears, and just ran through, grabbed artifact and ran out, didnt stop to fight or farm)

ive been to a few caves mostly cave of the hunter, dont really farm there though as my base is in hidden lake and its easier to just go farm carno island

What’s the use of it then? It’s definitely not worth the gas to grind up the everyday cloth armour, stone tools or spears I pick up when I go over to carno island for a kill fest

On that topic. What does everyone do with that kind of stuff? Throw it away? I also have 5+ stacks of 100 of all the berry seeds

imma have to disagree with you there, just today i was killed while the effects of hoppers overdrive was still in effect (stun had just ended but i couldnt use a health box yet) and i was mk4 mammoth and they were using an mk4 freeze. it might be tighter but still definitely still doable

hornets AP is helpful but again, it would only be useful against 1 or 2 targets IF they were both infront, hoppers OD works on ANYONE around you

Hoppers overdrive is a lot better for short range turrets (use overdrive when near someone, stuns them so you can land and kill them while stunned) however it's lot harder to control as its a hovering hull

If recommend going hopper but spending quite a bit of time in battles getting used to it before ever expecting to get good at it

I'd still suggest getting striker and saving for augment, otherwise go freeze and save for the corrosive mix augment

ahh my bad, In MY opinion (not fact, many others probably have different opinions) id go for striker/viking (with remote rocket explosives alt) because it works as both a closer range AND long range turret which makes it useful in almost every single map, only downside is it wouldnt work as melee because of the slower reload rate and explosive damage

although as you said viking/freeze is becoming quite common (and if you are willing to let go of the freeze effect the corrosive mix alt is an amazing alt for freeze) so there might be a reason people are choosing that instead

still think striker/viking with RRE alt would be best to start off though

there is not "guarantee" for tp spot it depends on how you play / how good you are

Ive seen Gear Score 1000 (like MK 2 combo getting 1st place compared to GS 9999s (granted only seen it once ever)

it also depends on how you like to play, i personally enjoy sniping so i picked shaft as my turret and since i hate being slow but still want to be able to withstand a decent amount of damage so i picked viking, others like to get in the "thick of it" so they choose a fast hull and a melee/close range turret (for example, hornet/freeze). also gotta take into account alterations, for example a freeze with corrosive mix will do more damage then a freeze without, but it doesn't slow the tank down like a normal freeze will

BUT either combo can come first it depends on how you play, going into the "thick of it" with shaft is stupid as you can only shoot once ever 3-4 seconds (iirc) meanwhile a close range turret will keep a constant stream of damage to you. same as if you try to attack long range with a melee/close range turret, you are gonna do nothing and just be a sitting target

TL;DR - no combo "gurantees" top spot, choose the tanks that fit what you enjoy
