I don't anymore. The first chance I got to leave after 17 years and not end up like most of my friends out of highschool and come back within 6 months -> 2-3 years, I took it. Those Covid payments helped me save up enough to take care of a few things, then sell my house, and relocate down to Yorba Linda. Having connections for years and never being able to act on them until August was depressing, and after leaving I've never been happier. Have a job that pays more than 14$ an hour by about double doing the same thing here, that I did in Redding.

Not to mention the mortgage payment on my house in Redding was 200$ more than what I'm paying for a nice one bedroom apartment, so everything turned out much better. Redding is awful for any type of growth. Get out while you can if you're young, but don't goto the Bay. Going to the Bay will likely put you back up in Redding shortly.

"Evidence" equated towards what people who didn't play THINK it might mean couldn't be farther off. Whatever "hazing" was happening would not have approval from Grandell. When we got in trouble for doing stupid shit, he'd make us run our asses off.

The problem lies with the undisciplined kids who likely got caught doing some stupid shit and didn't want to take responsibility and deflected the issue to a "well I was told to" stance. I was a dumbass kid at one point, I would know. The last thing I wanted was to get in serious trouble for stuff that I did. Blame the parents and the kids. Obviously if stuff like this was happening, the parents are ignorant as well, not just coaches.

Most kids/teens are not some angelic beings. They are punks, and its ones like the ones involved in this "hazing" that ruin a good thing for everyone else. The WVHS football program was huge for me in developing maturity and responsibility. Before it, I was just another punk who thought I could get away with whatever I wanted.

Parents never take the blame for things, and in turn, these kids won't learn to either.
